The new Lifebouy. It was a good bit milder soap than the earlier version, which contained Carbolic Acid as its deodorant/ germ killer. The original bars were red, and that formula is still available in Europe. My SIL uses it as hand soap.

I think the ads were printed in June, and JH was in the throes of starting his new stage band "Gypsy Sun". They probably werent expecting him quite yet. You do well for a youngster, darlin'. Neil Young kept threatening the camera people so his pics are only onstage. I dont know if he was under contract to another company still....He was a Motown guy briefly with the Mynah Birds....but then it was Buffalo Springfield....so he may have been protecting himself.

Its always odd to think someone like JH made his name in the UK....but he wasnt the last artist to be unappreciated here.

That's great info. Thanks! Anyone my age who loves classic rock, and does some research because of it, can become quite knowledgeable. Plus, my Dad had a library of music history in his head of classic rock, pop and soul/Motown. Also studio groups like The Wrecking Crew, Mother Father Sister and Brother, and The Fabulous Funk Brothers.

The Wrecking Crew had some pretty well known members who became stars themselves. Tom Scott is playing Tahoe this weekend, Glen Campbell of course....Tommy Tedesco used to write a column for Guitar Player on a recent session work, including his time and wage. Carol Kaye was one of the best Rock Bassists, and wrote books on method, as did Howard Roberts. The Funk Brothers were a legend in their own time and as a group backed literally ever Motown Star at various times. Jaimie Jamerson was THE Bass man.
