Picture/Clip Post Magazine (New Joiners Read 1st post)

It is a beautiful picture! I have a flag-pole in my garden and fly all sorts of flags, we also have one outside my office, but it always makes me shiver when I see one at half-mast. Gosh, no, I wasn't criticizing!
Yes we also have many flags here on boat …. As well at home with proper “flag-pole”…. I did not notice the position of the flag tho ?

Ohhhh....Fairly common expression pre 60s....Came aftrr "little pitchers have big ears", because people more or less weren't using pitchers daily any more....the "ears" referred to jug handles....and the terms "Jarhead" and "Jughead" arose there, as well. Slang changes with time...language tends not to.

Thank-you for that, SB.

At first glance this looks like historical zoo porn but actually its a representation apparently of the conception of Alexander the Great. A medieval print of a spirit that had impregnated his mother.

Lots of famous people from the ancient times were said to have been conceived by spirits - plenty of them in the bible, although I don't recall which ones now. Moses I think. Solomon. Jesus for goodness sake.

The second image came with but needless to say I cant read it for you.
