Anyone much younger than me would take this for one of The Grateful Dead's Marching Bears, but the fuzzball was advertising Brake and Muffler repair before Bobby Weir and Jerry Garcia were born.FB_IMG_1689019620434.jpg

This thing is a fancied up version of a tin can Telephone, which we used to make as kids. I built one about 12 years ago for a class in personal communications; the project was the final for the class and for the trimester. We had a communications party for family while we each illustrated our understanding of Comm with these projects. One classmate, Dave, had a little sister, about eight, with him....when she discovered that these worked....Well shucks....Y'all know I always oblige a lady....and she did say "Please".... Dave told me later that little sister actually slept with them that night...?

Another for Miz Kristy...Baltimore's Mt Vernon Place, with the Nations earliest public subscription Memorial in the Background. The Cathedral Tower behind is quite black from coal and wood smoke. The Photog is standing on the corner of Center street below The Peabody Institute of Music. To the rightgoing up the Hill is the Walters' Home which has become a fine Art Museum.Baltimore,Mt Vernon Place 1902.jpg

Advertising can be such fun....Borden's "Elsie" was a bovine version od June Cleaver.View attachment 425068
An early Furry :)

Back in my growin' up days, there were basically two images on milk cartons: Elsie, or the "Tip-O-The-Mitt" logo of Inverness Dairy, *THE* local operation. They seem to have gone under - I can't find a single image of one of their milk cartons. Only the old glass bottles from 'em, and those don't use that logo as part of the embossing.

Try ebay or etsy...someone is collecting them
