I mean I see your point but wouldn't you want to cross a few things off your bucket list first?? Like I'm definitely gonna try the other white meat and probably attempt to burn down a city, could fly a plane, fire a rocket launcher, take a shit in parliament house, make a throne out of human skulls....
I think it's safe to say that everyone should avoid me during an apocalypse... Like I don't think I would start off as a marauding psychopath but I feel like I'm gonna end up that way pretty quickly

No. Bucket lists are stupid. Once you're dead you won't know what you did or didn't do anyway. The only thing positive about surviving the apocalypse would be knowing that this fucking species and civilization is finally gone.

Safety plays no role in that. Just a stout fact. If the world somewhat ends do you think such things would be tolerated? Keep in mind food and water will have a completely different meaning at such time and people will have a different reaction to something as simple as that. Imagine the reaction to a nut wondering the wastes attacking everyone they meet?
You seem to think there will still be some form of society... If you barely have enough water and food for yourself then will you invite someone else to come live with you?? Like people don't trust eachother enough to band together now and you think that's going to change when people are desperate??
And say you found a murdered person on the side of the road, are you gonna stop to investigate?? Seems like a huge risk and waste of time when you could be looking for food and shelter

God I hate Fallout. Such a stupid fucking setting. 200-300 years after the war and it's still a scavenger crapshack wasteland world with no one even bothering to try and build anything new or even clean? Makes no fucking sense, completely destroys any sense of immersion.
All their technology usually requires nuclear fusion... I'm not disagreeing but I thought I'd throw it out there... Plus people do build new things but there's also other problems like the large amounts of genetically modified killing machines that randomly roam the wastelands also there aren't that many people alive in those games... Someone does a YouTube video on it and adding all the people in the games together you have less people than the population of New York City.... Plus the brotherhood of steel, the enclave, and numerous bandit factions build new things...
And on that note half the time someone builds something another faction comes along and takes it
Also you gotta remember that a good percentage of that 200-300 years was spent in vaults
But there are other things like New Vegas, only 3 bombs dropped in Vegas and they were tactical nukes yet no one tried building anything?? And where the fuck did everyone go??

Couple hours of New Vegas, and maybe 10-15 hours on 4.
Blimps, planes, boats, x02 and hellfire power armour, weaponry, underground facilities, hospitals, giant robots, helicopters, bases, satalites and actual space traveling rockets have all been built after the war
And then you have synths and that leads to Arcadia, fog condensers, super computers and a few other things
If you did enough of the main quest you would of seen a flying fortress coming into town

Yes, a town made of 300 year old scavenged corrugated metal roped to crumbling bombed out buildings. Absolutely fucking stupid.
It's 75 years after world war 2 and do you see Europe still living in bombed out boarded up buildings with blown up tanks still sitting on the streets out front? Did you even see that 10 years after the war? No, they fucking cleaned up! Cut down new trees. Smelted new steel. Replaced fucking windows.

The great devide, glowing sea, San Diego/day glow are a few examples of why it's so hard to repair.... Half the country can't reach the other half and then you have nuclear storms irradiating crops and stuff...
Also people do move cars they even build walls out of them and it comes back down to why the fuck would you give a shit about moving a few cars if...
1) they're powered by nuclear fusion and could explode
2) they have way more important things to do
3) doing such things draws attention, either from other people or giant genetically modified killing machines
Also working cars do exist they just don't feature in later games because it's too much for the games engine to handle
