I actually plan on getting a blotchy/inky paw print with some of the ashes of my hubby pup mixed in on my wrist. There are some great examples here but I agree, a zeta symbol would really paint a target on you.
Nonsense. It's just a tattoo, not a sign. You don't owe anyone an explanation but if you feel the need to share, just say it's to remember a favorite dog. Basicly, with all the hate groups out to target us, there is NO "secret" symbol that doesn't quickly become well known to the haters

That depends on what the tattoo is of. Different things mean different things to different people. Paw prints are about as generic as it gets, but the zeta symbol is something completely different in how it's viewed. Where it's located in terms of visibility is going to effect that as well.

You're right, it could have a 1000 meanings, but, depending on what it is, people are only going to know one, and that's the one you'll have to deal with.
I'm all for self-expression, how I choose to do it and how someone else does it are going to be different. That's people and life. Personally, I feel like there are enough challenges in life without creating unneccessary problems for myself. For me, spending the rest of my life explaining a tattoo to other people is more than I want to take on.

Agreed. Location all convey some meaning. A paw print on the ass, whatever meaning it might convey, will be seen by fewer people than one elsewhere. As in real estate, "location, location, location"

I was once talking to a woman and I saw that she had some folders tattooed. at first I didn't say anything but I was directing the subject to the tattoos. At one point I got up the courage and made some insinuations about the tattoo and she was direct asking if I wanted to know if she practiced zoo. when i said yes she asked why and then i talked about the tattoos and what it could mean. she was shocked. but wanted to know more.

You know it is funny, I remember back in 2000 my sister got paws on her breast line clearly visible. She is an animal lover in general and at the time never thought anything of it, but for the past 5 years or so I look back and wonder. I am a zoo... was she... a question that will never be answered but I can help but question how similar we might be.
