Why should I feel bad?

Sometimes I get the occasional (when I come out to the wrong person) "YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED YOU RAPIST!!11!1!" Do they know it isnt rape? Are they dumb?
 
It really seems like they are dumb. But even smart people can be dumb about things that stir up emotion
