Back when that book came out the translators didn't really bother that much with correct or more or less direct translations. They went for style.I'm guessing that would be the german translation of "'Salem's Lot"? Trying google translate hands me back "Salem must burn", which, while it does at least SORT OF apply, isn't quite what I expected - I'd have taken a guess at a translation something more or less like "Anteil von Salem", or perhaps "GrundStück von Salem"?
And, here in germany, Brennen muss Salem, sounds really good and it has an implicit meaning of evil and something not right. It's just the sound of the phrase and heritage knowledge about the witch hunts.
I've read/listened to Alien - Seventh Circle,
I've read "Warum ich niemals für mein Land kämpfen würde" (Why I'd never fight for my country, not a good book),
I'm going to read "Freikorps" and "Interceptors: The Untold Fight Against the Mexican Cartels"
