Urine drinking behavior?

I'm a male with a male dog. The dog seems to have a fascination with consuming urine 'from the tap'. Is this behavior unusual? If he sees me head for the can, he's right there trying to get it. Hopefully this doesn't violate the rule about WS content. I'm not trying to catch a ban.
I've never heard anyone else mention this behavior. I'm not talking just a sniff or a taste. He does what he can to get all he can out of midair. Never had a dog do that before.

Asking about behaviour looks fair.
Just do not encorage (as it looks from the way to write it) and certainly do *not* record and post, specially in the porn sections or you sure be in trouble. :D

Looks a more or less normal thing. Dogs smell urine to get information on others. Some do take a lick or a sip.
Drinking is rare but not unseen.

Nothing wrong with him. Just push him gently away.

PS: Check yourself for sugar or protein in urine 🤔🤣

Lol on the protein and sugar in the urine but also not really lol, but you’re correct it could be something coming from you that he can sense or tasted once and wants it more, definitely don’t encourage this behavior, you won’t be able to go anywhere in public again 😂

I've had three dogs and all three have tried to do that, idk why and it's fucking annoying but they have senses beyond ours so chances are it's another case of trying to check that you're healthy... Apparently picking joints like the wrists helps them determine your well-being but idk as I haven't heard it from an official source (apparently they lick certain joints because that's the inlet and outlet for certain crucial things the body needs like nutrients and potassium because your body uses the ends of major bones as a point of transfer for nutrients so it doesn't compromise bone density... But I'm not a doctor so idk how true that is)

Doctors in past times tasted urine to discover "sugar sickness". zIt gave them the diagnostic key to what we call Diabetes....you should go get checked....like....yesterday
 
My males were interested in tasting my female's urine all the time. Either from the tap or on the ground. Classic Flehmen reponse sampling her hormones, hoping to find the day she goes into heat. Well, the dog was spayed and they were waiting for a day that will never come. After she died the dogs started doing it to each other instead. Old habits die hard. Darned annoying sometimes their heads get dog piss on them.

But coprophagia (poop eating) is much worse and can be a sign of serious illness. The dogs in my life that suddenly started that didn't live much longer. The first had cushings disease. The other had developed terminal cancer and I didn't know it. Both died with month of each other.
