Suggestion: Restrict the types of comments allowed in content threads

Mods can lock this up if they want to. The thread has devolved into snarky comments and twisting my words into something else, so I think its run its course.

I simply made a suggestion, and explained my reasoning as well as I could without being insulting. I wasn't demanding anything from the mods, and I don't know how things work behind the scenes here.

They don't need your permission to do anything. If it's too painful to see your precious thread get dragged: just don't return to it.

Another word of advice, just because other forums do things a certain way, never expect anyone, especially mods, to do anything just because you (who have contributed extremely little) make a suggestion.

Call us mean or whatever, but you should have been expecting this to happen.

I do wish there was a way to only view new content, it can be frustrating trying to find content when 90% of posts with unread messages are just pointless responses. I have found a way to partially mitigate it though - click Filters at the top and set the sort to "first message". That way brand new posts (which will of course only be content since discussion posts aren't allowed in content sections) will always be at the top. That doesn't help for new content that's posted to existing threads, though.

Why can't people just scroll through the thread and essentially just skim it like you would a newspaper article?

Skip over short comments of just a couple words and don't read them, and stop on ones that have attachments/embeds?
 
I would appreciate an easier way of reviewing porn as well. Though this change is unlikely to be implemented and unless the thread are locked, it would mean 100 reports every day for mods.

Well yes, that's what I'm forced to do, but it's annoying when you want to browse for new stuff every couple of days and out of 50-60 threads with unread messages in them, maybe one actually has a new file attached. It's just a lot of wasted time. I'd love a marker or something by a thread's title that tells you if there's any unread messages with attachments but I don't know if that kind of feature is within the scope of Xenforo plugins.
 
I enjoy comments in regards to my content. A thank you, a so hot or something like that is really, really appreciated.
The reaction buttons on the other hand are the laziest way to, well, react possible. They're no real sign of appreciation, especially if you've made your own thread for your own content.
Those pic dump trades, for example the one in the womens section about vaginas or the one in the mens section about crossdressing, that's where a simple reaction button is enough, since so many people are contributing to those threads.
But if someone is doing his/her own thread to upload content and that content is decent (at minimum), a comment is common decency and simple manners.
 
Better yet, in addition to my earlier proposed solution (marker by titles indicating unread messages with attachments), it would also be cool to be able to hide messages without attachments. That way, both sides get what they want. People who like receiving feedback can still read feedback, and people who only want to see the porn can only see porn. You can even be in both groups!

That's totally understandable, and I would feel the same way if it were my own content.

Its pretty much just threads that are about specific types of vids/pics people find,and are encouraging other people to post similar content where the lazy comments become annoying. Maybe its just me, but sometimes in larger threads when people are quoting the vids over and over just to say how hot it is, it actual slows things way down. Like vids take much longer to load or dl and even going to the next page slows way down.

Thanks for giving me the mod pov on this. There probably isn't a reasonable solution given how much extra work it would be and how ingrained people probably are with the way things have always been.

Videos have always been slow to load here.

Obviously conversation and socializing are the backbone of this forum and I would never suggest to take that away.
