I would recommend using a toy, would be better if you had a K9 toy with a knot. My wife and i have been using those, so when she can get fucked again and maybe get knotted it will be more enjoyable. Depending on the dog, the knot can become huge and depending on your size (like if your petit) it could be painful. So I think the toy will def help you get ready. Oh and good luck! I know what you mean. Right now Im actually considering adopting this husky at a local dog shelter I found on craigslist. It would be a rash and probably not very smart decision since I know dog ownership is a real commitment, but this dog is beautiful and Ive got such bad urges.
 
For about a year ive starting to miss my Dobi bitch its been nearly 20yr since she passed said never again. But cant stop thinking about her & the fun we had very tempted to get another from a rescue center

Yeah, you need to first have the daily routine the dog needs before you get one. You need to love long walks, exercise (sex does not count, sorry lol) and training. Otherwise you have an unhappy, destructive dog in your hands who might not even enjoy sex! Not all dogs are interested in sex with humans so you gotta be ready for that, too and make sure you are an absolute good match in lifestyle to the dog you're getting.

Now on the topic..
It would be best if you didn't even get knotted the first time. Someone reliable should help you get mated carefully first, without breaking you or having any nasty surprises. Dogs can have sex many times per day, so not getting knotted on the first jump would be ideal imo
