sleep howl

Has anyone been woken by their k9 sleep howling? I mean both of us are asleep in bed and suddenly he'll lift his head and howl mournfully. I dont think he's ever done it as a puppy. and he only does it on occasion. I wonder what he's dreaming about. Whether it's about his daughter who passed almost 4 years ago now. Or is he just running with wolves? He rarely howls when we meet up with our old pack when they howl in greeting. he's more of a yipper

Im pretty sure the manner in which he is waking to howl is like when a human wakes with a start while shouting some word or phrase

My Newfie girl does this every once in awhile. Like maybe once or twice a month. I don't think she even lifts her head to do it. Often I'll be sitting in my recliner watching YouTube and I'll hear a faint "Awoooo" in the background, as she normally like to sleep on the kitchen floor because it's cool.

I don't know why she does it, but... meh... I'm not too concerned about it.
