Scary animal encounters?

Just curious if anyone has any stories about encountering a dangerous animal, or surviving an animal attack?

Was there something you could have done to prevent it? Even it was something as small as pay more attention.

Not looking for horror stories or have anyone relive a brutal moment.
Would just like to know out of curiosity.

I have had a few, my most memorable one was fishing a stream and hiking.

When I came across a little beaver dam, thought it looked like a good spot to fish.
I looked around and seen a nice clearing to get access to the little pond.

While walking to the clearing, I heard a growl! I stoped, looked around and didn't see a thing.

I heard it Agin and it sounded above me.
I look up and to my right: I see a mountain lion pearched about 10-15 feet above me and about 15 Maby 20 feet away up on a ledge staring down at me!

At that moment I was completely frozen with 1000 scenarios going throu my mind.

I came to the realization pretty fast that if he wanted to kill me he would have.
He didn't have to let me know he was there.
He could have just as easily jumped on me and ate my ass.

Looking back, I Probly could have avoided the situation if I wasn't fixated on my next trout

A few years ago I was travelling around with an ex-bf and came across sea lions at La Jolla beach. We walked up close to them like morons and got chased by a territorial male sea lion. It was actually very thrilling (getting chased) and I was surprised by how fast sea lions can flop on their bellies towards you. Other than that, no stories to tell. I try to keep my distance from aggressive wild animals.

Yea that would be an intimidating presence to have chace ya.

I could see that scenario being kinda thrilling aswell

Well, worst case as long as you could out run the BF you would be fine haha

I had a big grizzly bear hiss at me. That made me jump even though it happened in a zoo.

I almost stepped on a rattlesnake while hiking a trail. It blended in so well I didn't notice it until I was about two steps from stepping on it. It was sunbathing, so I don't think it noticed me walking up to it which means no buzzing warning. I've never jumped so high in my life!

One time I went to Vegas for to celebrate a friends 21st and, myself being an idiotic 21 year old in Vegas, had blown through most of my money on drinks, some gambling, and an escort. Due to my lack of funds I had to walk to the airport at 11 at night as my flight was at 1 am. And about halfway there what do I hear? Why, it was the loud and angry rattling of a rattlesnake coming from somewhere in the rocky darkness right next to the sidewalk. My ass immediately froze in place and my eyes started scanning everywhere like the goddamn terminator, but I never once got a glimpse of him which made it scarier to me. I eventually just had to keep going while using my rolling luggage as a minesweeper in front of me
