With some discussion regarding some dino docs here, it reminded me of another documentary that really helped cement my interest in dinosaurs (and make 8-year-old-me cry in the end). Anyone remember Dinosaur Planet?

Back then it was this episode that made me fall in love with Protoceratops. Back then I didn't know how small they actually were. Looking at it now, it's nice to see an older piece of popular dino media actually show short, feathery (well, not modern, proto-bird feathery, but it's something!) velociraptors.

Does anyone else have their documentary or piece of similar dino media that awakened them this way? Can be a movie, or maybe book or DVD. It can also be just regular run-of-the-mill scientific interest or something that really made you realize how these pretties are truly beautiful. Or sexy. Anything goes!
 
I have no idea how old I could have been, but it was before I was sexually interested in anything.
It is the earliest dinosaur documentary I can remember having an impact on me. Though I think the proper period of fascination with dinosaurs was started by the JP1 for me.
We had this documentary on a VHS and it had a T-rex mating scene. :D Which is no what I was interested in at that time.
But there was a short little animation at the end accompanied with something like "No dinosaurs were harmed during the production of this movie." And that is what stuck in my mind and I loved that for some reason. :D

The explanation for the raptors having feathers also in my opinion while still of course sci-fi bullshit is much better than what we got as an explanation why they do not have them.

Also I will take, praise and love any movie that has a guy having a raptor pack. :D

I finished reading Raptor Red. I it a nice book that I recommend reading if you like animals. No humans in there, pure feral joy.
Two things I have to mention though. They are not feathered and the pictures have broken wrists. 😄
Feathered dinos were probably at least partially known at that time, but I suppose it would too odd for the general public at that time, so the author decided not to use it.
The broken wrists are a bigger mystery since I do not believe paleontologist would not have figured it out earlier. It may just be the drawings made to please general audiences expecting to see that.

I meannnnnn we actually can and already menaged to create chickens with tails and teeths (They were killed before they were born to prevent them from having an agonistic life.)
Im almost sure that until 2050 we can see some Moas and Terror birds around, but dino dinos dunno. But we can do them if we ignore the ethical questions!!
 
Apparently Troodon which has previously been invalidated, might be reestablished.
That is nice, since I like that name.
 
Trodons were the most intelligent dinosaurs that ever existed, it is believed that they just did not develop like humans because they could not make the pronation movement and because they lacked a thumb. However! They had an adaptation that allowed them to have a greater range of movement and accuracy with their wrists... this gave them many more options to handle better some objects... if you know what I mean hehe
 
I have never heard this theory.
The idea that they were smarter I did hear, but the rest is new to me.

The documentary I got the species from played it a bit safer and showed them starting fires to catch prey. Some birds today do that. But it is still pretty smart.
