Originals vs Remakes.

So, I'm sure we've all seen original movies, and their remakes before. My question, which do you guys prefer?, For instance, Dawn of the Dead (1978) v.s Dawn of the Dead (2004). The original is a classic, but long and slow. The remake has better effects, not as slow, some comedy, etc. Another example is obviously The Blob, 1958 vs 1988. The original is once again, a classic, but the directing, effects, etc, are horrible. However the remake, the effects are a lot better, and terrifying, (that car scene with the girlfriend and perv boyfriend, good lord that scene is disturbing, not to mention they actually show people fucking melting)

Generally, the original. Remakes are lazy. As far as effects are concerned, a director and production designer work with whats available to them....there was less than ten years between "Fantastic Voyage" and" Star Wars", and the effects differences were incredible....but did effects make" Star Wars" better? No....each of these were limited by the available technology, not improved. "Star Wars" looks just as dated now....just as " Nosferatu" and "Interview With The Vampire" do. I believe today's viewers are spoiled if they cannot watch and enjoy a flick in context of its day of production.
