Newbie having trouble with k9..

Hello everyone, I have recently began to indulge in this lifestyle beyond pics and videos and so far my buddy seems to be really enjoying it too! I'm having a bit of trouble getting him erect consistently, and when I do I'm not sure how to get his knot and everything out of the sheath? He is a 4 yo, healthy and intact male. I have tried looking at the learning materials here, including the old zooskool slideshows, but I just can't seem to get the hang of it. Would anyone be kind enough to help a young newbie learn the ropes, for my sake and my buddies ;)
