Ignore Threads or Forum sections

Bossmandad

Citizen of Zooville
Based on my preference there are sections or threads I would prefer to have been "cleansed" but in the spirit or togetherness and inclusion I understand why they are there

I have no issue if you do it, want it or like it, I am just not into it but sadly they come up on my feed and don't particularly want to see it

My question is, is there a way to ignore a specific thread or an section like you can a person?

Quick search offer this plugin:
https://xenforo.com/community/resources/ignore-content.6538/

XenForo add-ons can only be installed through the site owner's admin key so moderators couldn't do it. XenForo staff policy is to only talk to forum owners who aren't always technical people and owners tend to be a bit wary of adding things.

If you use the uBlock browser add-on you can block individual posters, (including moderators), specific threads, or entire sections. Hypothetically adding the following to 'My filters':

! 18 Aug 2025 https://www.zoovilleforum.net
www.zoovilleforum.net##[data-author="pes"]
www.zoovilleforum.net##.js-threadListItem-137370.js-inlineModContainer.structItem--thread.structItem
www.zoovilleforum.net##.block--category907.block--category.block

...would block pes, this thread, and the Dumpster Fire forum. The obvious problem is that your personal element blocklist is available on an open list on the uBlock browser icon dashboard to anyone who can access your browser. If you are using Tor, (or another browser), that is loaded on an encrypted external hard drive then it shouldn't be any more of a security risk than having Zoo material on that drive or having this site in the browser bookmarks. Clearly it is dangerous to have anything potentially illegal on your C: drive, and any risk would be magnified if it wasn't in an encrypted file. Safety first would be my advice.

What! :D

I mean feel free to ignore me using whatever method you want. It does not stop me from replying to you, it just stops you from being able to defend yourself while everybody else sees what is going on.
Block all the mods. :D A sure way to collect warnings when you miss out important stuff.
Firstly i'm not blocking you. The XenForo forum software ignore feature allows members to block anyone, unless the admin account specifically prevents members from blocking staff. Some forums use it and some don't. This forum does.

Secondly i'm just demonstrating that members, threads, or entire sections can be blocked by uBlock. I'm not even recommending it, specifically because it would be potentially incriminating on an unencrypted device.

Thirdly if a mod was after someone I doubt it would make any difference if they blocked the mod or not. If the mod banned them it would be unlikely that another mod or admin would intervene to overrule the banning mod, even if the ban wasn't justified. Blocking a mod wouldn't stop them contacting another mod or admin and defending themselves to those members of staff. It just wouldn't do a lot of good. So no, there's no real impact of blocking a mod to someone defending themself.

Fourth if someone is following the rules then they're not likely to get infraction point even if they block a mod. The corollary to that is that really there is only 1 rule: the person in charge can do whatever they want, including removing people who haven't broken the rules. I'm fine with that. There have been non-zoo people who have created accounts who have made critical comments. Those comments would have been within the rules, but i'm sure it didn't protect them from being kicked off the forum - and rightly so.

Fifth if a mod replies to someone and that original poster fires back with something along the lines of 'stop following me and get a life' and 30+ people give that comment a 'like' then maybe some of those people would like to know how to block that mod.
