How do I know if I am ready for a doggy friend? ):

I suppose I am ready enough by have not gotten a dog yet - I have a house, a vehicle and a job! I plan on getting pet insurance but everytime I get ready to get a dog, I find a way to hesitate for no reason. How did you know that you were ready for a dog?

I'm not really worried about training or bonding with them. Just nervous is all.

if u dont feel its right then dont do it

maybe ask a animal shelter to be a foster home for some time to see if dogs are fitting in ur life

I find that often, even if I am financially and socially ready for an animal companion, I still need to find a pup that has that special bond before I will dive in. The relationship between me and the pup that I find is usually the defining moment.

When I was looking for a new pup, I was still willing to go home empty handed, for as long as it took to find that special pup. And I just had the patience and acceptance that I might not find 'the right' pup that day. But I was always hopeful.

Sure thing!

Just remember to keep your eye out for things you may not expect. It's all fine to have a preferred Breed or Gender of pup, but life has it's own wonderful twits and turns, and you might find something you didn't expect by looking at several places.

When I picked up my girl, the family that was finding homes for their litter had 3 boys and 3 girls, and I was actually hoping to get one of the boys. But they didn't have that spark, and she was the last girl of the bunch. And I could not be happier that she chose me ^_^
