DDOS Attacks, Server Load Issues and Donations.

The first thing you need to do is be more tolerant of people. Especially girls, even if they sometimes do something wrong. And start a real fight against fakes.
Don't you see how those 2 points are in direct conflict with each other? Most "girls" being treated "intolerantly" are fakes.
If you see actual mistreatment of an actual girl, report it.

The problem with DDoS mitigation is that it has to scrape / scrub all traffic and then filter out the non-legitimate traffic into essentially a black hole (its far more technical than this). There would be a difficult line to determine best mitigation method versus privacy issues.

No, DDOS mitigation software cares very little about the contents of the traffic...

Is anyone else having this problem?
I can log in fine, I can search several threads. Then the page will get very slow to load, then it say site cannot be accessed.
Then it's hours or days before I can back in, then the same thing happens again.
I've tried all the obvious fixes.
I can't catch up on any threads because it will shut me out after just a few.

Yes, I'm also having this issue, but it's due to the DDOS attacks I'm sure. Everyone is feeling it right now.

Pardon?

Whilst the "tech" behind the software doesn't care about the traffic, the only way the mitigation works is by redirecting your traffic to the CDN, which then scrapes the data, determines what is legitimate / malicious and then forwards to the relevant location.

This then means that all of your traffic is now being monitored by a third party in some way shape or form. Whilst it "might" not cause a potential privacy issue, it also could.

DDoS is simply a bunch of requests that crash the server. Cloudflare is simply a thing that uses signatures and captchas to determine whether a person is eligible to access the main website. I think made this it's not hard. As I said, I'm not an expert in this, but this solution is still effective since it's still used by large stores.

I'm talking about a case where a girl grabbed a dog by the tail a little incorrectly, and instead of banning her, they deleted the video instead of giving a normal explanation. There are so few of them, and the community suffocates them with its humanity. Do you think she stopped doing that? I'm sure she didn't. And this case is not unique. It's better to communicate normally and explain than to ban someone right away.

DDoS attacks are a lot more layered than that (http floods as you suggest), and modern defences have come a long way past just captchas.

A DDoS attack is all about crashing a server or website by hitting it with fake traffic. It’s not just about bots spamming clicks on a page. Attackers can go after a bunch of things, like clogging up the server’s internet connection, overloading the DNS, or sending bad data to mess with how the server processes requests.

Captchas are good at stopping the easy stuff like bots (a DDoS attack isn't really a bot though as they're using compromised IoT devices to send crappy traffic) trying to access the site but they’re not gonna do much for a full-blown DDoS attack. A lot of the time, these attacks don’t even bother with the website itself (application layer - http/s). They’ll target other parts of the system, like the network or hardware, where captchas don’t even come into play (eg DNS amplification, SYN attacks). Cloudflare (and other mitigation services) have more advanced tools for handling DDoS, like spreading traffic across a bunch of servers around the world, automatically filtering out dodgy traffic, and looking at traffic patterns to block the bad stuff before it gets anywhere near the site - but as I mentioned earlier this then means that ALL of the sites data goes to them first - ergo introduces privacy risks. Signatures basically patterns of known attacks can help, but they’re not the be-all and end-all because attackers are always changing things up - these still rely on scrubbing techniques.

At the end of the day without knowing what type of DDoS attack this site is receiving, we're making a number of assumptions regarding it. I'd be surprised if the type of attack is shared with the general group either.

It is expensive to run this site because of the porn?
Why not let the porn section be a pay thing?
It was Fausty's dream to provide free zoo porn to all.
We now know that there was a bill to pay, and what sort of business actually paid these bills.
BF had to shut down because the payment options wee shut down on them. Now Crypto is easier available than in 2017

Interesting, but ethically no, thanks.
One thing would be if the site was involved in porn production (which, yes, is a different can of worms itself)

But. Monetizing peoples videos that do not belong to the site?
Nah. That is the reason I never was in BF, looked to me like they were scamming people.

And ethics aside, it also opens you up to a whole different world of legal scrutiny. It's hard for sites like this to pay taxes properly even if they want to, and that is something that that will get you slapped down faster than some zoo porn.

Meh, unlike the large majority of members here I've seen virtually all the porn I care to these past some 30 years. I have VERY little to ZERO interest in the stuff. Every now and again (not very damned often though) something creative and unique appears but most of the porn is small variations on the same old stuff. These days I'll review some of the stuff for abuse, exploitation or rule violations so I can report it, in an effort to give the staff a helping hand.

A good deal of "porn" here is harvested from social media, and just because 4 pixels in a 5Mpix image represents a dog's tailhole, it qualifies for the tread "dog butts". And so on.. There is no lower treshold what goes for porn.

Still there is a bill to be paid. The users who need these urgent supplies, why cant they pay for the service? If all on ZV are reuploads from somewhere else, or meeh stuff from social media, these users can as well go to somewhereelse dot porn for their stuff. Running a mirror of mirrror's mirror isnt a great business concept in first place. If it is meant to be a service for the member, le them pay for it Just as the members of a bridge club pays for light, heat and maintenance in the club, even if they bring the cards themselves.

What alternatives are there? Oh yes, the former emperor of Zoo ran a kind of crossborder transport/supply service. With the current U.S. import taxes, smuggling all kind of things into the U.S. will certainly be feasible. It was feasible for that fallen emperor. Until he fell.

If someone has made a promise to supply the masses with free zoo porn, that someone should have thought about the $$$ before making that promise.

Yes, I know what you mean, but still see it as scamming.
Gathering free old smut and what people freely contribute and put it behind a paywall is far from a bridge club and closer to having an entry fee in public libraries because they have expenses.

I would find it better to just remove all porn, save a lot in hosting and bandwidth and turn the site a low interest target, but we know it won't happen as *this* is a "bestiality forum" as the title implies.

The libraries have expenses that are covered by tax payers in most places. Do you think a zoo porn service will get funded by taxpayers? I can imagine the headlines!

Even the "low interest" ZCA has a porn section that the whole net seems to know about, even if it claims to be a "zoophile forum". Whoever wants to run a free of charge bestiality forum with free zoo porn, with the costs that follows, needs to consider the costs, specially if these are not meant to be covered by the users.

I pay for my internet connection, even if the online services I use are not owned by the internet provider.

But the site itself will remain untouched, won't it? CAPTCHA is still used on Amazon if there are a lot of requests. I think that if it were useless, it wouldn't be there. And bots are easy to identify.

Looking at DNS leak sites Cloudflare have their own problems at the moment. I recently switched my default DNS from Cloudflare to Quad9 because differences in IP and DNS locations could cause me some financial problems.

I am not talking about who pays the bill.
Just about how it is not fair to gather money from others without their permission.
Moot point since it is not planned anyway.

(To clarify: I mean "no porn" = "low interest *target*" for anti attackers.)
ZCA porn section should rightfully be famous as in "no zoo considers it is wise to show off their intimacy" so it remains empty.
I doubt that section leeches many resources as is 😁

ISP sell their infrastructure and services.
What if your ISP stole your neighbors internet and charged you to use it?

It is just that the wast majority in the porn section on this site is "stolen" in first place, as the uploader did not make the content, but gathered it elsewhere. Appears nobody sees a problem in that.

Standing at a crossroads and not knowing what to do, does not make doing nothing the right choice.

Zooville has been facing an absolute wave of DDOS attacks and other denial of service tactics as of recent. The issue has gotten so bad & out of hand, i've come to help address and keep zooville running.

That is, keep zooville running as long as YOU the community, wish to keep it running. The staff has always agreed that to keep ZV running as long as it can be run, on the donation basis of the community to keep it running.

We are planning to spend a large amount of donations to fund the required DDOS protections and security measure to keep ZV running.

These expenses will be in the realm of an extra $3,000 per year to operate and with an additonal $3-5,000 upfront to initiate these upgrades over the next several months. likely before the end of December this year, onto the next year.

We have tapped into ZV's rainy day fund, and are grateful to have had it. However, it wont be sustainable unless YOU the zoo community wish to keep ZV alive with your donations. We can expect a yearly server costs of now 3800$ to 5000$ per year depending on the level of attacks we sustain.

I've been enjoying retirement, and glad to see ZV still strong 2 years later, and this is the limit of my return here. Keep the lights on, you the community still run things, and hopefully, keep this place a haven for zoo's worldwide.

Please Donate if you can. Zooville depends on it.

-ZTHorse.
I would donate if I had the means. But this forum is a great resource, not for only porn. Which admittedly is why many people are here. But also for the community and support. And other various guides and discussions. Thank you to everyone for maintaining this site!

I will help if I can with donations. I really hope this forum stays active and doesn't shut down.

This might have been answered and I missed it. If the forum shuts down does beast chat go away?

This just makes me mad! I don't really what else to say, just mad. This forum is helping people understand who they are, it's a very important free place. The attackers think they doing good for the world? They are driven by pure Hate!

I totally agree with you.
