DDOS Attacks, Server Load Issues and Donations.

Is anyone else having this problem?
I can log in fine, I can search several threads. Then the page will get very slow to load, then it say site cannot be accessed.
Then it's hours or days before I can back in, then the same thing happens again.
I've tried all the obvious fixes.
I can't catch up on any threads because it will shut me out after just a few.

Yes, I'm also having this issue, but it's due to the DDOS attacks I'm sure. Everyone is feeling it right now.

Pardon?

Whilst the "tech" behind the software doesn't care about the traffic, the only way the mitigation works is by redirecting your traffic to the CDN, which then scrapes the data, determines what is legitimate / malicious and then forwards to the relevant location.

This then means that all of your traffic is now being monitored by a third party in some way shape or form. Whilst it "might" not cause a potential privacy issue, it also could.

DDoS attacks are a lot more layered than that (http floods as you suggest), and modern defences have come a long way past just captchas.

A DDoS attack is all about crashing a server or website by hitting it with fake traffic. It’s not just about bots spamming clicks on a page. Attackers can go after a bunch of things, like clogging up the server’s internet connection, overloading the DNS, or sending bad data to mess with how the server processes requests.

Captchas are good at stopping the easy stuff like bots (a DDoS attack isn't really a bot though as they're using compromised IoT devices to send crappy traffic) trying to access the site but they’re not gonna do much for a full-blown DDoS attack. A lot of the time, these attacks don’t even bother with the website itself (application layer - http/s). They’ll target other parts of the system, like the network or hardware, where captchas don’t even come into play (eg DNS amplification, SYN attacks). Cloudflare (and other mitigation services) have more advanced tools for handling DDoS, like spreading traffic across a bunch of servers around the world, automatically filtering out dodgy traffic, and looking at traffic patterns to block the bad stuff before it gets anywhere near the site - but as I mentioned earlier this then means that ALL of the sites data goes to them first - ergo introduces privacy risks. Signatures basically patterns of known attacks can help, but they’re not the be-all and end-all because attackers are always changing things up - these still rely on scrubbing techniques.

At the end of the day without knowing what type of DDoS attack this site is receiving, we're making a number of assumptions regarding it. I'd be surprised if the type of attack is shared with the general group either.
 
sorry if I sound dumb, but would adding adds or something like that to the site help it, or is that not an option?

We now know that there was a bill to pay, and what sort of business actually paid these bills.
BF had to shut down because the payment options wee shut down on them. Now Crypto is easier available than in 2017

Nah. That is the reason I never was in BF, looked to me like they were scamming people.

And ethics aside, it also opens you up to a whole different world of legal scrutiny. It's hard for sites like this to pay taxes properly even if they want to, and that is something that that will get you slapped down faster than some zoo porn.
 
Meh, unlike the large majority of members here I've seen virtually all the porn I care to these past some 30 years. I have VERY little to ZERO interest in the stuff. Every now and again (not very damned often though) something creative and unique appears but most of the porn is small variations on the same old stuff. These days I'll review some of the stuff for abuse, exploitation or rule violations so I can report it, in an effort to give the staff a helping hand.

A good deal of "porn" here is harvested from social media, and just because 4 pixels in a 5Mpix image represents a dog's tailhole, it qualifies for the tread "dog butts". And so on.. There is no lower treshold what goes for porn.

Still there is a bill to be paid. The users who need these urgent supplies, why cant they pay for the service? If all on ZV are reuploads from somewhere else, or meeh stuff from social media, these users can as well go to somewhereelse dot porn for their stuff. Running a mirror of mirrror's mirror isnt a great business concept in first place. If it is meant to be a service for the member, le them pay for it Just as the members of a bridge club pays for light, heat and maintenance in the club, even if they bring the cards themselves.

What alternatives are there? Oh yes, the former emperor of Zoo ran a kind of crossborder transport/supply service. With the current U.S. import taxes, smuggling all kind of things into the U.S. will certainly be feasible. It was feasible for that fallen emperor. Until he fell.

Yes, I know what you mean, but still see it as scamming.
Gathering free old smut and what people freely contribute and put it behind a paywall is far from a bridge club and closer to having an entry fee in public libraries because they have expenses.

I would find it better to just remove all porn, save a lot in hosting and bandwidth and turn the site a low interest target, but we know it won't happen as *this* is a "bestiality forum" as the title implies.

The libraries have expenses that are covered by tax payers in most places. Do you think a zoo porn service will get funded by taxpayers? I can imagine the headlines!

Even the "low interest" ZCA has a porn section that the whole net seems to know about, even if it claims to be a "zoophile forum". Whoever wants to run a free of charge bestiality forum with free zoo porn, with the costs that follows, needs to consider the costs, specially if these are not meant to be covered by the users.

I pay for my internet connection, even if the online services I use are not owned by the internet provider.
 
Looking at DNS leak sites Cloudflare have their own problems at the moment. I recently switched my default DNS from Cloudflare to Quad9 because differences in IP and DNS locations could cause me some financial problems.

ZCA porn section should rightfully be famous as in "no zoo considers it is wise to show off their intimacy" so it remains empty.
I doubt that section leeches many resources as is 😁

It is just that the wast majority in the porn section on this site is "stolen" in first place, as the uploader did not make the content, but gathered it elsewhere. Appears nobody sees a problem in that.

Standing at a crossroads and not knowing what to do, does not make doing nothing the right choice.

I would donate if I had the means. But this forum is a great resource, not for only porn. Which admittedly is why many people are here. But also for the community and support. And other various guides and discussions. Thank you to everyone for maintaining this site!

You have not realized that almost 100% of a population hates people who have sex with animals? This is an animal porn site. It takes less than that to become a candidates for DDoS attacks. I would guess that ZV ranks higher on that list than the homepages of different nation's tax authorities. Hacking attempts and DDoS attacks must be expected at a site like this.

The question was less "I don't understand why they're doing it" and more "dont they have anything better to do", which the answer to that seems to be a rather palpable "no".

Making war against such sites will earn them popularity among many. Like "I made that self distributing code that made that animal porn site lame for weeks" ---- "yeahyeeeah you are our hereo!"

Having nothing to do can lead to such activities. Other make such things simply because they can, or want to prove that they are a genuis.

It's so strange to me that there are so many seemingly unemployed geniuses lying around, while the global tech industry is woefully underemployed. Wish i had their free time lmao. If only these geniuses contributed something actually useful to their society instead of attaching more biggoted buzzwords to their social media bios and repressing speech in places like these.

Then again, it's exactly this sort of hubris or vendetta that ultimately destroys people from the inside out. People who behave like this have no empathy and no morals, preferring to engage in illegal/legal gray area activities themselves like cyberwarfare than just minding their own business and living an honest life. They would like you to think their morals are superior, but I see no evidence for that in their actions.

This is just some dude, or a group of people, paying for a DDOS "service".

That doesn't take any skill. Let's not pretend they're clever.

Having been an educator in a tech academy, I know these "geniuses". They can't work structured, like developing something to satisfy their workplace's needs,like if someone wants a database for management of something. What the heck does that database mean to "me"?- they loose focus on the task, and drift away with other tasks. They can not cooperate with others. They are lonely wolves, who can only work towards something that meets their own needs. At some time there comes this meeting at the principal's office for a pep talk. We are then told that we are the ones that are imbecile. They do not understand that we are the last station before a paid job, and that the employer who pays them has some needs, like creating boring databases, and automation apps. A tech academy has a reputation to maintain, and it serves them best not to let such students leave with a diploma. They drop out, cant really focus on a paid job. They can possibly use heir skills in crime, as the goal they need to work towards will benefit themselves directly, not via a paycheck, further comes the excitement to make something without getting caught, doing a "job", getting the money and not getting caught confirms them as geniuses to themselves, and a few like them, which is probably all they need.
