We are ready to get a dog of our own, but want one that either does not shed or sheds very little. What are some breeds we should look into?

Maybe not one that doesn't shed... but one that doesn't require three rumbas running at all times would be nice
Well, danes are known due to his size but some individuals are lazy. There are many different mastiffs that can be what you need but they have big differences from one to other from size of penis to temperament..then you can find some medium breeds that usually are good sized, labs or retrievers are so popular....however they are not easily interested on sex. Dobermans are a good choice due to their aesthetics but from my experience they're not horny. Best ones I've found were big strays and mixed. If you need a pure breed to pick I would say german shepherds and rottweilers are the best, they have big cocks and are always ready to sex when they're well trained

GSDs and Labradors are both top-tier shedders, right up there with the whole sled dog family. Rottweiler fur is a really dense double coat too.
Dobermans look sleek but they have short stiff hairs sometimes described as prickly.
Probably what's best is Pit Bulls, their coat being so short and fine, they're dime-a-dozen, and the larger ones are popular for sex.
Great Dane fur is pretty fine too.
What about Bloodhounds, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, and the larger sorts of coonhounds and hunting hounds? They can be well-endowed. But I don't know about the texture of their fur and shedding.

Labs shed a lot of hair, my mate passed away 4 years ago and I still find his hair EVERYWHERE

German shepherds and labs both shed like CRAZYYYY. Like, an obscene amount.

Personal opinion. But most non shedding dogs have zero appeal to me. Especially the "curly" type.
On the flip side. My huskies shed so goddamn much that it has helped in turning me off of the breed after this.
I LOVE and will probably be going back to short coat XL breeds after this. Great Dane, Cane Corso, Dogo Argentino, Boerboel and others like that.

Not at all similar to a husky or shepherd. Those shorties are only an irritation if they get prickly in the bed sheets.
I have literally inhaled floating husky fluff, and choked/coughed until I threw up.
With dobie, pits, danes and mastiff it was a bunch of loose hair that was easy to clean... unless it got into fabric.
Also they are so territorial and crazy. They would act weird in public
