Anyone out there in Beastyland into classical music?

Pooseman

Lurker
If you are, and you haven't "discovered" her yet I suggest you check out a young British musician called Alma Deutscher on Youtube - and I mean young; she is 15. She began composing at age 4 or 5, her first short opera was performed in Israel when she was 7 and her full length opera Cinderella premiered in in Vienna when she was 11. A year or so later it was expanded and staged by Opera San Jose in the U S. Her work has been praised by maestros such as Zubin Mehta, the patron of the Vienna production, Jane Glover, conductor in San Jose and Simon Rattle.
She is also a concert standard pianist and violinist and regularly fronts orchestras playing her work. Last year she performed a full concert of her work to a sold out audience in Carnegie Hall and received standing ovations.
Check her out; she is a thoroughly delightful young lady and her music is wonderful.

Love a live performance symphony orchestra. Doesn't matter what they're playing, I love it all.

No, I agree that it doesn't matter what they're playing but check out this young lady if you haven't already. Her work is so different to most of the 20th century atonal and discordant stuff we've had to endure that it's a joy to listen to.

Puccini works for me, but then again if I'm in the right mood Chopins Nochturn never fails to soothe!

He does it for me too and so does Chopin but they're dead and can't produce anything new. This young lady is very much alive and has enormous potential. Enjoy her while she is with us.
