Do you judge someone by their profile picture?

As a broad question, would you avoid someone with a certain profile picture? Or does having a certain profile picture set a strong tone about what that person is going to be like?

I often change mine quite frequently on really every platform aside from YouTube since well- it’s part of my own brand, can’t freely change that.

Oh yes yes I do, I don't care if they have animal pictures up there I don't care if it's animated porn I don't care if it's just a scenery picture but when you start putting mutilated dick pictures or ugly dick pictures or mutilated pussy pictures up there then yes that's what I start judging.
I will genuinely never get people that do this, I cannot see any appeal to doing so at all.

Yes.
I kiiiind of got used to animal genitals (just those taking all available space) because a few seemingly reasonable people used them. But humans, especially naked is a really bad sign.

Lemme put it this way: I see that you use a dick-pic as an avatar, and you get put on ignore immediately. No questions, no discussion, no nothing but the metaphorical sound of the <PLONK> when you hit bottom after being tossed into the trash can as the worthless thing you announce yourself to be by your choice of avatar. Guess that means I do judge. So be it.

I compare it to a real-world bar, nightclub, party, etc - You wouldn't walk in with your dick hanging out of your pants without the (entirely proper) expectation that doing so will get you thrown out, beat up, arrested, laughed at, or any combination of the above - if not even worse - So why in the name of whatever you hold holy would you do the equivalent in a forum and expect that it's going to have a good result? By using a dick-pic as your avatar, it's my considered opinion that you announce to the world (or at least, the users of the forum you're doing it on) that you ARE a dick, that you have NO couth whatsoever, you have no respect for yourself or others, you have shitty manners, and likely suffer from one form or another of mental deficiency, making you not worth the effort to even attempt to speak to. So into the ignore bin you go.

If I want to see a dick, I have several options available, starting with dropping my pants and looking down.

In this day and age we are all in a visual world. As a society we are brain washed to it. Now ever those with any common sense will judge people by their character.

Yes, I can't take seriously a person with a dick pick (or any other nude body part in general). It seems like we are a lot in the same boat :husky_laughing:

I don't really care that much. I'm not getting offended nor bothered no matter the image, unless it's extremely offensive. Maybe because I'm omnisexual and I like any gender and species. Also someone having a dick pic as his profile image on a forum that is mostly sex-based it's not that bad. If think of it as some kind of liberation, as this forum has to be one of the few spaces on earth where people can really show themselves.
Also, don't judge the book by its covers. You can have an user with a cute Pomeranian on their profile picture and be an absolute asshole, and have one with a dick pic and be a fun and alright guy all around. You never know.

Just like when I see the "don't tread on me" bumper sticker. I immediately think , small pp.

Not really no… only frustrating one for me is the simple letter: no image gives no indication on the person’s taste or interests, and I’d rather see sthg tacky or hideous than nothing ?

It's just one more thing that shows what's important to you as a user, and how your own selection process works.

I've got no problems with you if you choose to wear a Darth Vader mask in real life day in and day out, but I'm going to draw some conclusions about you. If you're stealing images and passing them off as yourself, then you're a liar and a fraud. Likewise, if you pay to have your ears surgically pointed and walk around with "live long and prosper" bumpersticker on your vintage lunchbox, I think I can peg where your mind is at. If you're showing me a photo of your own Twig-and-berries, I get where you're coming from.. but it's not a land I consider worth visiting. My mind can always change, depending on the quality of the way you conduct yourself on the board, but you've already got one strike. If not two.

I try not to be judgmental but if the first thing I see is your privates, I am less inclined to think that we're going to vibe. I do enjoy the art of some people's profiles. It's clear the people who thought things through and chose something meaningful to them. For me its an introduction to the type of person you are and your brand. I would rather see something colorful and occasionally animal anatomy can be fun and creative but there's definitely a segment of people who over do it.

Gosh, I can't articulate it any better than you all already have, but yes I do; both positively and negatively. The use of genitals as a profile pic is an immediate turn off but unique, cute (I am looking at your @Puhp), or interesting profile pics elicits a positive reaction for me. Aside from the vulgar profile pictures, some of the names are an immediate "nope" for me as well. Anything like "PussySlammer" or "BitchTamer" is also a huge turnoff.

If you have a profile pic of nude female body parts then its safe to say Id be led to believe its a woman. It just doesnt click to see that and go, oh this is a middle aged guy, though it probably is in reality. If you are someone who gets upset you are getting messages based on your gender then maybe dont put a pic that reflects a gender or kink.
