One for Miz Kristy: This is the Cannonball Punch bowl and cups presented to Col. Armistead, who commanded the defense at Fort McHenry against the British Attempt to carry the Fort and capture Baltimore. He was Honored in 1816 with this set. Sterling Silver, probably made by the local Kirk or Steiff Silver Company. They merged but still produce silver and plateView attachment 423848
Beautiful!

I love how dresses like that bunch up in the back, usually with a big bow. I wonder if they knew how sexy those were.
They might have, without actually saying so. The tailoring, especially across the tummy, HAS to be deliberate....no chance that was unintended....and the fabrics suggest these ladies were not average strollers-in-Regents-park.

For Miz Kristy, especially.
Another Lalique Brooch, "Phyrne"...depicting a Courtesan of Ancient Athens....According to legend, she ran foul of the City Laws, and was brought to trial. Her case was lost until her lawyer or representative pulled her top down. When the beauty of her breasts was exposed to the jury, she was acquitted of all wrongdoing. Phyrne became a celebrated subject of song and play.Brooch 'Phryne', by Réne Lalique.jpg
