Constance Bennett....the only movie star I ever met....a very nice lady....She was married to one of my Dad's Military Colleagues. One Sunday, we were at brunch at McGuire AFB in NJ... I was not eight yet, so '61, maybe. I was trying to not look like an 8 yo in a jacket and Tie....she came up next to me...smiled that smile...and started serving me little things off the buffet....til I had a second plate....we talked about this n that...probably airplanes because her Hub had been a fighter pilot....and the sort of chatter a young fella makes when confronted with the most beautiful lady Ever...She walked me back to the table, asked my mother if "This young man with the delightful manners was Hers?"
... and introduced herself as Mrs. Coulter....My parents knew who she was, of course....But I didnt...and even at 7 and 3/4, I was jealous of her hub. Ah well...She had a mimosa with Mom....and then went off to find General Coulter. She passed away a few years later, at 61....but even at that age...She HAD it.
