ZV needed a cleanse

Can we put requests in please

I want my "honeypot" back
What was the title?
Hi,

I absolutely cannot understand the ill-considered decision to delete all personal ad and meetup threads and posts. What kind of signal does this send to users when their posts are deleted after less than a day? I think this is a sure-fire way to scare users away and chase them off. Even if the threads are a week, a month or a year old, you can't tell from their age alone whether they have been dealt with.

And the many deleted posts in the Bestiality Discussion section contained important knowledge for reference. Apart from that, a lot of work went into the posts; I alone spent many hours researching, which were now wasted. Users feel that their commitment to the forum and other users is not really appreciated.

I strongly doubt that this will increase their motivation to get involved and help others. Why invest effort if there is a risk of deletion? Users will then limit themselves to very superficial posts.

As an admin and moderator in one forum for 25 years and a visitor and active member in around 200 other forums over the years, I can say that other forums never delete users' knowledge or specialist posts, as this is precisely what makes forums attractive.

When other forums want to clean up, they try to get rid of inactive members, for example. They are notified and told that if they do not log in within a specified period, their account and posts will be deleted.

This alone would remove a lot of ballast from Zooville. Banned or otherwise blocked users and their posts could be deleted without further ado. A similar procedure could be followed for personal ad and meetup threads and posts, but with a time limit. Thread creators are notified when their thread is one year old that it will be deleted and that they should create a new one if necessary.

There are other useful ways to tidy up and make the forum clearer. All Meetup threads should be moved from the discussion sections to the relevant Personal Ad and Meetup sections. Another option would be to close threads with topics or questions that have clearly been resolved to prevent further posts. If users still want to contribute to a closed thread, they can send a private message to the thread creator. However, the thread creator should be allowed to reopen the closed thread if he believes it is not yet resolved. That much tolerance should be granted.

For me, the most important thing is that people talk to each other and don't just act. Most of the crap in the world happens because people don't talk to each other enough.

Kind regards
CdB
The zoo sections were not even touched. Some were a long time ago, but some of those were moved to the correct area. Years ago I moved over 10 threads to the fetish section. This also isn't Facebook. Members can't close their own threads.

Well that explanations the 4000 lost posts. :D I doubt I had this many in the DF alone.
Entirely possible, one or two posts spread out over literally thousands and thousands of low post threads could definitely be where they went.

A lot of them were awesome for catching fakers
Fake is actually kinda allowed.
Lying about your identity
You are allowed to be a fake woman or a fake man on the forum as long as you are not stealing content or someone else's real identity.
The forum is not a dating site and we do not and will not verify user identity. But people who choose to use the forum for dating anyway can call you out in the:
Claiming stolen content as yours though will get you banned immediately. This includes taking photos of people from the internet and claiming it is you.
Do not use photos you have uploaded anywhere else. We will not verify it is you and it will be considered stolen.

I think it was a bit radical, some warning would have been nice. Our main thread for my fellow South Africans with like 60 pages of chatting and pretty regular traffic was unfortunately "cleansed"🤣.

I agree, kill stagnant threads and accounts, sure. But this just seems like someone walked into a section of the forum and got trigger-happy with a flamethrower.

It is fair enough to clean out old dead threads, or personal ads by users who have not been logged in for a long time. But relevant contributions become a part of a pool that makes a forum great. ZV has lost a lot recently, and hey are not even done yet. I am old enough to remember Elitezoo. Users lost interest because they happened to loose the complete database at irregular intervals. Backups are only for cowards. When they asked the users to sign up for EZ ver 7.0 or something the interest faded away.
If they need to free up database space thre is plenty of porn that is uploaded multiple times. As well as some far fetched genitialia only images/vids hoarded from social media posted unde (species)sheaths (speies)balls etc etc, just meh items where them said body part may be visible as a few pixels in a few seconds in a long hires movie.

I feel like someone will log in to ZV tomorrow and read "Welcome to Zooville! Be the first to make a post in our forum!"

Can we get permissions to actually do something with the damned groups, seriously I am fed up with there being a section of the forum that's completely inaccessible for anyone that's not a administrator.
Yea, I posted a few groups to be removed and some to just give ownership to me. It's whatever.

Completely empty for example.
There was also a rule about how long it would take for groups that didn't have the minimum number of members to be deleted.

It would be best to eliminate the entire Groups, as it is an outdated, buggy, and difficult area for moderators to monitor. It's completely unnecessary when the forum is suitable for all communication.
Nuke. Nuke it.

is it suitable tho? shit is disappearing.
In principle, you don't like this forum and there are periods when you don't come on for weeks because of idiotic and fetishist stuff. But now what bothers you is that idiotic and fetishist threads and comments have been deleted.
It's true that some/many more useful threads have been deleted, but I'm glad that it was removed the lot of shit. Smelling 500 Kg of shit instead of 1000 Kg of shit is much less stinky.

Yes.
But you know too, those fuckers never come here just to LARP. They also come here to fuck with people, be that posting stolen content or straight up catfishing........and THOSE are the fuckers we're after right there.

LARP all you want, I could care less. Start fucking with people though and you need to go elsewhere.

i fucking hate abuse of "power".
blanket nuking load of stuff because it may have temporarily get shit too is just that. nothing more.

100% pointless crap of a mod (no, jerking off on eggs is not "kinda zoo") getting an exception is just a cherry on top.
it's weird to me that you're okay with this.

I specifically asked for that thread to be spared (as a joke before I even knew things will be deleted) and it is kinda zooish.
But at the same time, I did not delete anything during the purge because I did not take part in it and only restored one thread from mine that were deleted.

@dogluver101 as far as I understood it, threads in DF, personals and the human porn section were deleted. But the General Discussion and User Chat and Zoophilia and Bestiality Sexuality were not touched? I lost 4000 posts by the way. Not sure where.

Why are there complaints about lost discussion threads?
OMG! SQUAWK!!!! I lost 600+ posts?!??! UNFAIR!!! MODERATOR BIAS! YOU'RE ALL OUT TO GET ME!!!! OMG! OMG! OMG!!! Whatever shall I do!?!? That's SO UNFAIR!

Hey, Pes! I still got more posts than you!!! NEENER NEENER!!!! :)

Hi,

I wanted my previous post to be understood as meaning that closing and reopening closed threads is, of course, part of the moderators' job.

As for so-called dead threads, there is actually no such thing. Just because no one has posted in a thread for a long time does not mean that the thread is dead, but rather that it is inactive. It may be that everything necessary on the topic has been said in the thread. But even that does not make the thread a dead thread. There are countless reasons why an inactive thread is much more likely to be a valuable addition to the forum. This starts with discussions on questions that interest many users and does not end with topics that have humorous content. Almost any topic can have grateful readers at a later date. Therefore, deleting threads is usually a bad idea.

The statement that the forum is not for dating or meetups cannot be true. It may be that only a few dates work out, but there are plenty of examples where it has worked out. Contact attempts purely for zoosex are only one side of the coin. Many users are simply looking for conversation partners to come to terms with their own identity and problematic sexual orientation. Others are looking to exchange experiences, and there are many more reasons in every conceivable combination among those seeking contact.

And what is the point of the sections under Bestiality Personal Ads & Meetup if no threads are to be opened there? That cannot have been the original intention when these sections were created. They were created for use.

Kind regards
CdB

Hi,

deleting the good in order to get rid of the bad is like throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Two even better solutions immediately come to mind. If all the content got deleted, then there wouldn't be any more stinky shit.
And to avoid being exposed to new shit in the future, one could simply stay away from the forum from now on.

Kind regards
CdB

Cleaning going well, lot of Introduction topics gone forever but if You started cleaning PLEASE don't forget about cleaning full abomination sections like this:

Reason: Male dog abuse and rape content.

Reason: content not related with ZV interests and community

We havent had a lot of reports in that area. I'll look through it. But I'm not deleting someones thread if a dude is getting his ass abused by a german shepherd. :gsd_wink::gsd_grin:

To be clear - I mean blokes topping male dogs, not dogs chocolate stabbing guys. I strongly hope that kind of content will be wiped from ZV soon, non zoo section as well.

I've been deleting intros after six months of either no new posts or the OP hasn't logged in, I was fed up with seeing one post accounts from 2019 being drooled over non-stop.

Same thing goes for any necro posts as well, why reply to a post that's been dead for years and the OP hasn't been seen in just as long 🤬
Perhaps make a set of guidelines for other mods based on this? Once done, It shouldn't be too hard to then automate each rule with a few scripts.

"This site is not a dating site"
Thank you! :gsd_nervous:

I second this, if we also remove M/F just to be safe please, we can't risk controversial content getting through.
(Sarcasm.. Mostly.)
