No, the point of a forum isn't "history". It's for people to communicate with each other.
And of course you'd pull a "trump" card. There goes your credibility.
...
Ignorance of the rules isn't an excuse.
People arguing for "tolerance" on forums know jack shit about moderating a forum.
...
Break the rules? Banned. It's that fucking simple. And frankly, that's the most fair method.
Hello,
that's bullshit. Since you're obviously still wet behind the ears when it comes to forums, here are the key features and differences between forums and chats and Facebook conversations:
1. Forums have a topic-oriented structure
2. Forums enable highly asynchronous, i.e. time-delayed, communication
3. Forums offer long-term archiving, meaning that content is permanently accessible
4. Forums have a structured discussion thread, often with a quote and rating function, and discussions remain organised by topic
5. Forums have moderators, moderation guidelines and fixed communication rules
6. User profiles can be very detailed
If it is not already clear, the post history is the gold of the forum. At the latest when the same question or problem comes up for the tenth time, you too will recognise the value of the history. You don't have to keep answering the same question over and over again, but can point out to people that the solution has already been discussed in the forum and that they should use the forum's search function. Or, as a friendly service, you can give them the link where the answer can be found.
Finally, it should be mentioned that the application of rules and laws is determined by their interpretation and not by their literal implementation. There is always room for interpretation when it comes to understanding rules and laws, because nothing can be formulated so clearly that everyone understands it in the same way. Therefore, it is important to recognise the intention behind a rule or law. As a result, the final implementation can sometimes deviate significantly from the actual wording. It is also said that rules and laws are flexible. I'm sorry if this confuses your view of the world. But as you get older, you will eventually understand that this is how it has to be. For now, I'm glad you're not a moderator.
Kind regards
CdB
