Could be possible. Doubt using something like image magick's php extension would do that to videos. The normal structure is all files are in a media folder. They get changed to random file names depending on the attachment, etc.
Certain mods as mentioned only do images, and they may do more but that requires the forum to be upgraded.

And as mentioned as this is the 20th post reported of Meta data in videos.

I should see about getting Elastic search to just access my server that's running it so it can allow for better searching. Nothing special needs to be done since I already did that. Just needs an IP and it does the rest.

I think I do have that in the rules as well. I'll make sure its at least a lot more visible.
 
Hi i wanted to ask. If i send a document ie a story with no images or videos, just written content for the story section that can be traced or i could be identified through my account or the file itself? My biggest fear is sending a story and then later authorities knocking on my door :(

It would be from my PC and using DOCX files. Can anyone give me sound advice how to go about that safely?

Sometimes it can embrd stuff like the username of the account that created it and like what version of Word it was written with, but nothing remotely as useable as GPS location.

Fun fact: word document metadata is how they caught BTK.

I will recommend to upload it in pure .TXT format.
 
Just get BatchPurifier, it's cheap and it has options to purge metadata from any file type.

Even a pure text file is stored with metadata on the file system like what user created it and when it was last accessed. It can be seen by right clicking on the file in windows and clicking on details. Is that metadata uploaded?

Don't forget the way you write, phrases you use, the language you speak, the keyboard format, level of detail, punctuation, use or disuse of emojis, and what details you include explicitly or that is deducable can be used as part of identification.

I think from all this i will just pass on posting any stories. Its all scaring me to death so i will just look and read :) better to be safe than sorry.
