• NOTICE: Welcome back to Zooville! We've had to completely rebuild the server and restore data from backups after a non-security-related hardware incident. Please allow some time for the dust to settle. The site may be slow and not all features may work immediately. Intermittent downtime may occur while we work to restore the site.

Latest backup was from July 8th, so anything after that date will have been lost but that should have been less than 24 hours of data.

While restoring from backups we're also upgrading to the latest forum software.

So... ZooVille's back!

Good morning, afternoon, evening, and night... depending on your location.

Now that the formalities are out of the way... ZooVille is back. Here's what happened, a good portion of Zooville was hosted on Dogluver's server. Dogluver ended up disappearing for half a month (for no fault of his own), and unfortunately within that time, the company hosting the servers didn't receive their payment. After 7 days of non-payment, everything was wiped. Including Zooville, but Zoocadia and Zoo Writer's Guilde was also deleted as well. Luckily Beast.Chat was being hosted elsewhere.

Some of you maybe aware of Dogluver's partial device seizure a few months back. As far as we're aware, law enforcement would not have had access to the servers at any point before nor after deletion during Dogluver's absence. Everything was thoroughly walled off, obfuscated, and encrypted. However, by the time Dogluver came back online, it was too late. During this time, I was not able to get in touch with Sloppy on here. I was also not the individual that updated ZooVille's Telegram channel.

I'm going to try and get in touch with Sloppy to try and get some more information. I will update this thread when I have more info. For the time being though, expect errors and hiccups with the forum. There's going to be a lot of them, as most of our add-ons are broken and missing critical files.

To be honest, I'm surprised ZV wasn't gone for good. But not being able to reach Sloppy to verify if a backup even existed, I could not know what I could not know.

Any background story on that?
I'll let Dogluver answer more thoroughly if he so chooses. But from what was public, basically he and an ex-roommate got into a dispute. The ex-roommate made false reports to the police for "CP" as a means to fuck him over. The police aren't going to find anything related to that, because he doesn't dabble in that shit.

ZV wasn't related to this, and there should have been no way for them to access the servers regardless.

Welcome back. Thanks to all for the recovery. Let's get a DONATE thread started.
