What if personals switched to a Post and locked setup? Opebing message, say what you want and then the thread is locked.

Pretty sure they didn't "try" to purge, they actually did it. And it was motivated with stated goals that were achieved. You seem very angry about not being able to reply to 6 year old threads for some reason.

If that was really the intention then you would have done a better job cleaning up the first time.

Not trying to be argumentative here, but I am genuinely curious as to what you think they were trying to do, and how you would gone about it in a better way.

You’re completely missing my point. Some people use that section to actually try to find friends too, and we are sick of the kinksters too. Location-based threads help those of us who want to find friends nearby, especially because nobody uses groups anymore. But even that’s not okay I guess, because the elitist assholes on this site have their inner circle and want to keep the rest of us from being able to do the same.
They claimed they were purging that section to clean up the problematic people, but the problem persists, and now they just want to nuke it and ruin it for the rest of us. What did they think deleting those posts would accomplish? I feel that it’s just a disguised method of gatekeeping at this point, because none of what they did or what they are suggesting they do further is actually going to solve the problem that they are claiming to have. It’s bullshit.

I will give my opinions on this, but of course I have no special insight here.

First of all, the person posting this request is just a regular user. Secondly, the mods that you are seemingly upset with does not in fact have the power to remove the personals section. Only the admins do, and Floofy has made it clear on several occasions that he wants it to remain. So it's not going anywhere.

As for why the mods want it gone, I can only speculate. But it is a major source of rule violations and harassment. I can only imagine it causes them a lot of work on a daily basis.

This part I just don't understand. Like all conspiracy theories, it misses the "why" of the thing. What actual reason would they have to prevent you or anyone else from finding friends or whatever, just because they have theirs? It makes virtually no sense.

Personally I have found several people on here that I would now call friends, but not a single one from the personals section. But the reason I don't like that place is not because I am trying to prevent anyone else from finding people to talk to, but because the behavior I see there from both animal owners and the kink seekers lead me to believe that there is some level of animal abuse being caused by those threads, on an ongoing basis. Not everyone who hooks up via a place like this is willing to let "just an animal" put a stop to a "good time". But hey, I also have no actual way of affecting this site, so it's just my personal opinion.

Well:

Tons of personals were cleared, including much older ones. People responding to posts from 2022, and that user has never logged in since 2023.

I've been deleting intros after six months of either no new posts or the OP hasn't logged in, I was fed up with seeing one post accounts from 2019 being drooled over non-stop.

Those are issues that most certainly were addressed by the cleanup. You see it all over the forums, people just blindly bump ancient posts from users who are not here anymore begging for contact. Why not tidy things up?
You as a regular user should be happy about that as well, knowing that the posts and threads that you look at are "fresh" and might actually lead to a response.
