Post reset issues

i can connect and post stuff via TOR just fine now.
I dont mean connecting to zoovilleforum.net over TOR. In that case you're still running through a TOR exit node before reaching the regular internet.
I'm talking about using an .onion address for the forum (TOR hidden service). It used to be http://ebkkee32u5fvrx5aybrkk7pewa6wgal5zc2qlxcdfmdlc5mfyzsx36yd.onion/
This is far more secure than accessing the regular open domain address because your communications never leave the tor network, and can't potentially be tracked by compromised exit nodes.

Using the .net address == Your PC -> TOR -> regular internet -> Zooville (Anyone after your TOR exit node can observe the traffic)
Using the .onion address == Your PC -> TOR -> Zooville (Your traffic is obscured the entire time)

After the disk crash/update:
* group membership is in a weird state: can see threads but get permission denied when attempting to view them
* discussion thread titles are visible when un-authenticated, both in main forum and groups - so search engine bots can scrape them -
groups still show titles, main forum looks locked down now
* reply to post does not work but multi-quote -> insert-quote works
* reaction to post does not work

* email notifications for watched threads do not work.
* edit post after posting does not work

that's my list so far.

(Strike through means "fixed/working")

First of all, THANK YOU.

Second, I just noticed that all QuickTime files uploaded end up being downloaded with a .qt extension instead of a .mov extension.

.qt was never officially used by Apple and seems to come from the early to mid 1990s if my memory still works. The correct extension for QuickTimes should be .mov. No idea why .mov files are now coming down as .qt but my guess is related to the server restoration.

With that, I did notice that one QuickTime uploaded post restoration was not having the location data stripped. Mods were notified and the problem resolved. Buuuuut, processing all uploads to have GPS location data stripped might be another item to investigate in the "post apocalypse restoration to do list." A guess would be that if .mov got changed to .qt at the upload time, that file type may be skipped as it's non-standard if we're not checking all uploads for GPS data to remove.

And thank you again.

alright, imma ask
what's going on with the chat? is it dead forever, plans to revive, path unknown?
I haven't liked the forum for a long time and really only kept an account in case of issues with the chat and getting back to it. too much horrible shit gets allowed to slide both in and out of the dumpster fire on here and I want no part of it. at least with the chat, mods didn't let the filth spill into the major spaces.

I"m about out of give a shits in life anymore at my age. I'm grateful and pleased that ZV's back and hopefully BeastChat will also return in whatever form too eventually. Being the misanthrope, zoo exclusive that I am human self-righteous arrogance/ignorance is contemptible and disgusting. Too often objectivity ends up being shoved aside in favor of subjectivity due to emotions. The only significant emotion is LOVE and the Greeks were savvy enough to have SIX different terms for it.

I read the chat instructions and because of the instructions chose to never use it. Seemed massively complicated. Did I read the wrong instructions?
