lack of moderation in different language section

There's also a big problem translating some languages, it's not unusual for several of us to try and translate something only to end up with different translations or a whole lot of senseless gibberish.

Here's an example of what we often have to deal with, no clue what language it was supposed to be originally.

Feed the tea placed in the museum, the sea lions use shoes, can see the frozen Germany, the green clip penguin skirt, the thickest sweat stain is the nine-tailed mouse skirt, leave your wine for your mountain goodness
Clearly abusive!
What program gave you that? I've had much better luck.

In such cases, it also arises that the writing is intentionally written with slang words that they understand easily, but the translator certainly doesn't.

Ultimately its a choice for the mods but what about doing a poll asking if the non-english forums should be deleted

Simple Yes or No to gauge the feeling of the users

I vote Yes

It is also a matter of the safety of this site. If a foreign language section is used for pedo, drugs, weapons or whatever because the users in question knows that their little corner of the forum is basically unmoderated, I see a trouble code.

still waiting for a answer of @FloofyNewfie in his role as Admin
The answer is that I'm not sure.

Finding mods for those sections is not, and would not, be an easy task. Having a mod voting contest wouldn't be reliable. Even if I were to set criteria such as "been a member for at least 2 years" or "has more than 150 posts (most of which aren't in the porn section), can also speak English, and has no prior warning strikes" because even if that might mitigate the possibility of some obvious wankers getting selected, it wouldn't be a fool proof method. I think the only two that are currently moderated are Polish and French. We also have Hungarian and Czechian covered by full mods, but they have more roles on the forum than just the language sections.

Deleting them outright would be a bit problematic. As this would likely drive a good chunk of the users away, and likely not all of them simply wankers either. I could delete the ones that don't currently have mods but that seems a bit unfair towards the users as well, as it's not their fault that they don't have a mod.

So realistically the only two options is just to leave them be, which is a headache for the staff. Or delete them all, which will drive many users away, and will leave the question as to what we would do with the language mods. It's kind of a lose-lose situation.

thanks that u took ur time and evaluated the problem

u dont need to delete them, maybe only lock them or limit them?

yes its maybe bad for some users (can u assume how many from those sections) but its a safety issue for other and on the end the decision need to go towards the ,,greater good,,
maybe ask for new mods in those sections and have a long application process - see if something good come out of it - sometimes u need to do a luck shot and hope

The rest were Polish ancestory.

so is there now a decision ? - should the non moderated language section stay wild and open or close them (not delete only close) as long no active mod is there for the language
