Zoophilia in history

Here's a curious bit from the older book Book of the Eskimos by Peter Freuchen (pg.99), specially relating to Hudson Bay Eskimos:
[Sexual] Relations with dogs were apparently not uncommon, and no shame seemed to be attached to it. The same was the case where dead caribou and seal were involved, although it must be said that men who resorted to this procedure were thought to be rather ridiculous.

I know of the cases of two wealthy hunters, with two wives each, who had frequent relations with dogs. And there were even special taboo rules to observe during such a romance. The intercourse had to take place when the dog was in heat, out of respect for its natural instincts. About a man who was mentioned as an ardent devotee of this means of obtaining sexual satisfaction, it was said that he once hurt his collarbone because he tried intercourse with she-dogs out of season. An evil spirit struck him with sickness to punish him for seeking love with a dog at the wrong time.

Copulation with dogs must always take place out in the open. The only place where cover might be sought was where two ice floes in the pack ice stood up against each other, so as to form a small shelter.

Then there is the age-old tale of another woman, who had relations with her dog and bore young which were dogs with human hands and hairless bodies. She had been confined in the open air in the shelter of some rocks, but her fellow-villagers had been ashamed of her and had pushed stones down over her and crushed her and her brood. The Eskimos believed firmly in the truth of this account.

Sometimes, sexual abnormalities were believed to give magical powers, as in the case of the man who was believed to be a great shaman because he had relations with his mother.

Incest was frowned upon, but in all cases of sexual deviations it was the rule that they were not to be concealed, that they had to be confessed openly. Only when the doer kept it a secret to himself was he believed to be possessed by an evil spirit (our equivalent of being sinful). As long as he talked openly about it to other people, it was considered to be a matter of no great consequence!

Almost any Greek or Roman mythology. Zeus (Jupiter) was pretty horny and converted himself into animals. Come to think of it. pagan mythology may be the reason the Abrahamic religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam are so down on bestiality. You wouldn't see so much preaching against it if people weren't doing it.

I wanted a thread to free post snippets, pics or accounts of zoophilia in history. This includes governments, religions, past customs and anything else related to zoo history from the past. I think it is good to see how peoples over time have views on zoophilia have changed.
The secret of the past. I love it.

I really like, or at least feel a particular interest, for the sort of overall connection Old Norse People used to have with horses specifically. For example the stories where one of their gods would turn into a mare to seduce the horses of the other gods in a competition, or how they would make depictions in forms of petroglyphs depicting them having intercourse with their animals, specially in sacred sites, or how they would preserve a horse penis and have a ceremony where they would make suggestive dances around it as part of a yearly fertility celebration and whatnot. Fascinating to think about a bunch of nice looking men loving their mares and studs to keep safe from the freezing cold :3
