For seven minutes My soul to take is one of the creepiest movies ever, After that it's shit.

I'll have to go with the Alien-now-Prometheus series, though they did have a few bombs in there. My dad took me to see Alien in the theater when I was 11. Probably not the best choice... I had some nightmares and slept with my spring action BB rifle next to me for a while. 1st and 2nd Alien movies being my favorite, with Prometheus and Covenant after that.
The Thing, both the original and the much later prequel are also tops. They did a great job with the era continuity in the the prequel.
The Ring (7 days!) and the Grudge were pretty fucked up, too. ?

As far as series go, Childs Play. Even the shit comedy ones.
Individual movies, Us. The girl with all the gifts. Though I guess that's less horror and more good movie. There is a Last of Us vibe but the story stands on it's own.

a movie nobody here has mentioned yet...repo the genetic opera. gory, funny, sad, emotional, and an overall amazing musical. check it out if you want! the main character is actually carmen from spy kids lol
