What do you keep next to your bed?

It is a good book and the one from his (Orwell) french teacher in school Aldous Huxley "Brave new World" is also quite good imo.
Both are interesting but are different dystopias.
"Brave new world" is a dystopia masked as a utopia where people are deceptively happy, while "1984" is the darkest and most misanthropic dystopia ever.

I've been watching Brave New World on Peacock, and it's not bad...not sure why they canceled it after just one season...

KFC sells a lot of chicken. Did you know - kfc is the largest fast food chain in the world not McDonald’s?
Really? I thought McDonald’s was, although I have seen many more KFC outlets (than McDonald’s) in all the countries I have been to around SEA… interesting. And they have quite delicious and interesting local variations on the menus besides the popular fried chicken. ???

Yeah, I would have guessed McDonald's too!

Mcd is banned in several countries. And kfc outnumbers them like 6-1 in China

I've met COs in my time who thought 1984 and Brave New World were utopias. And they were adamant about it. Well one of them was. The other, the one who thought 1984 is utopic relented a bit, but still thought the world in there wasn't all bad.

Yeah, and they're calling me strange for thinking Starship Troopers (the book, the fucking book, not the damned movie) world is pretty desirable.

Anyone who thinks 1984 is a utopia should read it twice and then live in North Korea for a year. The society and environment described in 1984 are horrifying in their relentless misery and hopelessness. What sick brain would want to live in such a world???

I really don't know. And as I said, she thought it over, when I said "are you fucking serious?" and came to the conclusion, that it's maybe not an utopia xD
