The Official Zoophile's Dictionary 2020

In terms of morality, humans are not "above" other animals, and humans are not "superior" to other species. It is arrogant and speciesist to think of humans as being "better" than other species. This planet has many species, and humans are only one of them. Some species are "better" than humans in various ways -- for example, dolphins can use echo location in a manner that humans can't. Another example: cats and dogs can smell things better than humans.

Humans ought to give members of other species moral consideration (the same moral consideration that humans give to each other). Humans are capable of thinking in moral terms (something dogs/cats can't do) -- this doesn't mean humans are "better" than these species, but it does mean that humans should not kill other animals (because they are capable of that moral thinking).
I agree that humans are not above other animals. However, thinking in "moral terms" is not exclusive to humans. Research has been conducted that demonstrate that most if not all primates have some level of morality, or a sense of equity/fairness. "Morality" in the human sense can be attributed to arbitrary cultural conditionings that are not much different from other behavior found in animals, or are even completely nonsensical regardless of context (condemnation of homosexual behavior, stigma against females on their periods, gender superiority, dietary restrictions based on religious beliefs, circumcision, forced baptism, etc.). Much of human morality and philosophy is just the naked ape overthinking stuff. While there are not much to go off of currently involving non-primate morality, one can infer that highly intelligent animals within the groups cetaceans, corvids, elephantidae, and cephalopods hold some form of moral compass. In fact any highly social animal species likely has some moral compass including several insect species such as ants, bees, wasps, hornets, and termites as living in groups affect the behavior of the individual. Attributing morality exclusively to humans is another form of speciesist thinking.
