is the search function on this site just a total broken POS or am I doing something wrong? I have been trying to search for "pmv" or "zmv" as a search tag but no matter how I mess around with the settings it always says no results which I know is incorrect because there are multiple threads with pmv in the title.

It can't search 3 letters.

You technically sometimes can search for 3 letters, but in only works if you also include a second longer word.
This is a limitation for the purpose of limiting large database searches.
It is set by the admin. So asking mods to change that will not work and changing it is probably not a good idea anyway.
