A bit of context: I was raised Catholic and the Bible was the end all be all for my household; so it is pretty drilled into me even though I left that religion a long time ago.

Today a thought popped in my head that the Bible sought to forbid the sleeping with animals as far back as the 5th century BC. Possibly farther even, but the first scripture to specifically mention that lying with animals was against the law was in Exodus; which was written sometime between 5th and 9th century BC.
Was just pondering how many people like us there have been throughout time. Makes me feel much less lonely in a way.

why would it make you feel lonely in the first place? you're with an animal, not alone.

Lonely more in the sense of not being able to have an open community about my life. The knowledge that zoovilles through the ages have almost always had to hide but we still existed throughout history gives me a sense of greater community and so helps appease that loneliness.

Very true; there are so very many ridiculous things forbidden in the biblical text.

Parts of Exodus i.e. Moses being found i a basket in a river are from the Akkadian empire in Sumeria 2000 BC. The biblical version has no evidence/relation to any events that took place in Egypt around 500 BC or before. These ancient stories are pieced together by word of mouth from many cultures. The Catholic Church probably doctored it up for their own purposes too.

I wouldn’t say the texts are stupid, they’ve survived longer than any other texts you’ve read so they do give people meaning even if they aren’t truthful.

My guess would be that people fucked goats back then. Dogs were probably hard to feed and survival was still paramount.

I believe we have always had sex with any domesticated animal available. In early stages probably cattle.
We are a naturally curious and horny species.
In fact even other animals do occasionally have sex with other species when they are sexually frustrated.
Someone did not like that, so they added it to the text always intended to control other people's behavior.
