Polygraph tests

I heard that polygraphs ask you if you’ve ever had sexual relations with an animal before.. I literally have to cancel a job interview I had because although I knew about having to take a polygraph test, I didn’t know about it asking that question which is super frustrating

Honestly I wasn’t going to pass anyway because of my anxiety, even if I told the truth on other questions

Does this come from a reputable source?
Yeah, I found an official document online (although from a different county than the one I live in) that listed all the questions they ask for their polygraph test and it was included, and I only found it after hearing from several other people on Reddit (although not a reputable source of course) that they were shocked that they were asked that so I went searching online

Although I did hear from others that only like 7 or 8 questions were asked at their tests, and obviously everywhere is going to be different so I can’t even be certain that I would be asked this question

What kind of mental ill workplace has such an examination?
At most, I can see its meaning in the case of a police or court employee.
They even joked about it in some CSI episode, because the thin scientist dude failed the animal sex question.

Government jobs, such as the FBI, CIA, and NSA, as well as some DoD positions require them as part of pre employment evaluations, regular audits, and internal investigations.

It is confirmed. I won’t dox myself, but we met at work and were both asked this exact thing.

They check for two things in those. Truthfulness, and “character crimes.” They don’t give a shit about your college weed habit, but they do care if you lie about it. The second part is self explanatory. Mainly theft, fraud, rage issues, degeneracy, and so on.

The Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA) prohibits most private employers from using lie detector tests, either for pre-employment screening or during the course of employment. Employers generally may not require or request any employee or job applicant to take a lie detector test, or discharge, discipline, or discriminate against an employee or job applicant for refusing to take a test or for exercising other rights under the Act. Employers may not use or inquire about the results of a lie detector test or discharge or discriminate against an employee or job applicant on the basis of the results of a test, or for filing a complaint, or for participating in a proceeding under the Act. Subject to restrictions, the Act permits polygraph (a type of lie detector) tests to be administered to certain job applicants of security service firms (armored car, alarm, and guard) and of pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors and dispensers.

Humans are animals (they aren't plants, and they're not minerals).
And so, if you haven't had sex with an animal, confidently say "No".

And if you have had sex with an animal, confidently answer "Yes".
If this answer draws concern, explain that their question should have been more specific.

Their next question, when they ask again, will be more specific, and that obfuscation will be taken as a sign of manipulation and a form of lying.

911 Dispatcher, which is fucking insane why they would do a polygraph for it. The tests are not even accurate at all either

I wonder how many people have actually been caught out that way. I know people need to be vetted for certain jobs, but that seems extreme.
Intelligence work requires a Polygraph every so many months....and that question comes up. A friend of mine damn near got fired when a polygrapher asked such questions, not about him, but about his wife and his mother. The Testing agent went to the hospital with a broken jaw. The only reason Pete didnt get fired was the questioning agent tpok it on himself to push at a perceived weak spot. The questions got more intense until Pete couldnt deal with it ..and pop went the weasel

That’s nothing. When you go for even those most basic of security clearances (that a nanny could get), they will do shit like call your third grade teacher if able.

Fuckin A they will. And, not just your 3rd grade teacher, but anyone who's name they can weasle out of them too. They routinely pyramid names from EVERYONE they talk to. I've been on jobs where there might be a pool of 20 of us, and all day everyones phones were blowing up with these types of gold mine calling, and, since we all worked together, everyone got called about everyone else.

And then there were the random phone calls coming in from people you haven't even spoken with for a decade or sometimes longer, telling you that some random fuck just called them out of the clear blue with a fistful of questions about you. And every other person also got those same types of calls. It's not uncommon for these fuckers to call 50 different people for every person.

Confirmed.

I had my actual third grade teacher call me asking if I was in trouble, citing the call. I then had to explain. 🤭

Not sure where you heard that but that is 100% not a question on the TS/SCI polygraph.

I've had to take them, and I'm unsure if I failed because they never told me the results. If I had to guess, I would say I failed just because I started sweating like crazy from the anxiety of fucking it up. My BP goes up, as does HR and whatever else they monitor.

Yeah I guarantee even if I took one and told the entire truth on every question I’d still fail, my anxiety would be through the roof
