Teddy bears go back to Theodore Roosevelt. He was on a hunting trip in
Louisiana, and was presented with a captive bear, which he refused to shoot. The Fair Chase concept caught a fire and suddenly Teddies were a thing. Historically Steiff in Germany produced the original in 1902.
 
Miz Vix....for your list of Romantics, this is a Martin Johnson Heade 1871 mood piece that fits well with that group...Its even more striking when you see it full sized...Our National Gallery has it. Oh....the two in the pair are green-and-pink Brazilian Amethysts. A red-tailed Sappho Comet is perched in the foreground. Got a kick out of the Nom de Plume....😅( forgive me....couldnt resist)

New York went Auto-happy very early. Its not in the Garden these days; the show is at the Jake Javits Center. The pic is from its first year

Never, ever, if you value your hide. My mother swore by this, and Memorial Day 1969, used it on my burn....It dried and started chipping....and took all the skin off my shoulders with it.
