Opinions on bioactive reptile husbandry

Considering a bioactive tank emulates the natural habitat of our reptiles, is more hygienic and low maintenance, and creates a more beautiful scape, why is it that bioactive tanks are still considered an alternative caretaking style?
Yes, plastic everything is cheap, but that doesn't make it good. For years we thought fruit baby food was a sufficient diet for New Caledonian geckos and day geckos before diets designed for the reptiles were developed and made popular.
Do you think it's only a matter of time before bioactive becomes the standard? Please discuss.

.. does this just describe a conceptual form of additional factors given by a biosphere consisting of natural components contrary to purely "designed for specific purposes" produced components? Like real wood, plants, even insects / fungi including yeast, microbes, bacteria and so on, which can establish a permanent (or at least long term) coexistence and positive effects by establishing a natural habitat comparable to "living outdoor in nature" for the reptiles, but with regulated temperature in unnatural climate regions for the animals?

Or is there some different factor included, which the reptiles wouldn't find in their natural habitats / nature?
