Welcome , hope you find what ure looking for.
Remember this lifestyle of ours isnt a socially accepted thing, it is illegal and taboo in most places.
Finding ppl to get invited is... let me be honest not really going to happen its an insane risk to all involved and tbh most ppl are not comfortable with the idea.
This is hard i know some living conditions dont allow for pets but its not suposed to be easy.

Thank you for the info! I know it won’t be easy, but I am determined!!
I strongly considered getting a pup of my own and training him, but I’m not really a dog guy, and all of my friends/family know this, so it would be incredibly out of place and pretty sus if I suddenly adopted a huge dog

If you know you cant care for a dog , and i dont refer to foo phisical needs , then you shouldnt get a dog simple , adopting a dog for sex is bordering abuse, and to be honest sex is the cherry on top not the reward for having a dog.
Having a dog means you come home from work after a shitty day , your doggo greats you with a look which makes you smile , unlike the scum we are humans , dogs can love unconditionally , i read it somewhere dogs are so stupid they love even a cruel master , yes we dont deserve them.
That is why it is nearly impossible to get "invited" most ppl care to much about there dog to just invite anyone , yes it happens , yes i have a select few close friends who i have invited up , and have been invited up to there doggo but in most cases it will never happen.
I dont want to sugar coat it.
Being gay what i have done in past if you have a one night stand of friend with benefits type of situation he has a doggo you drop the question , you know to much intimate stuff about each other to be safe and if he goes for it why not at the end of the day the person deciding will be the dog , most ppl say dogs are horny all the time but no even they might have times that they arent in the mood (rare but possible) or they dont like you personally for whatever reason.
