I've purged people I follow that haven't been avmctive in months or are banned etc as I feel the same

Makes sense, especially should you follow many people. Wouldn't matter that much in my case for example, because I don't follow that many people to begin with, so I don't have an overwhelming urge to purge inactive accounts (yet).
