The forum has over 250 thousand members, how many participate and offer something to the forum? What's the point of having HUGE numbers if they contribute NOTHING to the forum? Is there a valid reason for not purging membership roles for such people. I'd recommend purging such individuals after a year. There are a great many forums that do this...

Some forums have sometimes "X-cleaning". Basically it means that people have to put X (or any other letter, doesn't really matter) in front of their nick name by a certain date. When the day arrives, forum staff removes those accounts that are without X. It's been pretty effective way to get rid of inactive accounts. Of course, if those accounts don't cause any problems then I guess the cleaning isn't that necessary.

In fact, I think this should be related to how many points someone has. More points, more time before the account is flagged for deletion

These were used in the past, but nowadays, due to the endless hardware resources and software optimization, they are not very important for such a medium size forum.

Another problem is that many comments that are deleted may contain useful data. Many pinned threads are opened by inactive members etc.
It's not by chance that this method is not used.

Changing rules after the fact is somewhat like moving the goal posts... our fearless leaders created exactly what is here. Its a little late to change the place now....thats what ZC was created for. These people may not be highly desirable, but they aren't necessarily harming anything.

The snooty crowd has ZC... this one was always somewhat more egalitarian. Let it be.

I actually find it even amusing when lurker's just think with their dicks and contact these databank corpses for DM's. Then they get upset when the person doesn't respond and keep sending posts... :ROFLMAO:
