Gun Ownership - NO politics, just "Do you or do you not own a firearm"

I think everyone would have a gun in America if it weren't for the substantial financial costs involved. Ownership in America can involve significant costs beyond just the purchase price of the firearm, including expenses for ammunition, accessories, and safe storage. The total cost of ownership can add up considerably over time, making it a financial commitment that varies widely among individuals. So when I hear someone say they have a lot of guns, I think that person must be RICH!

Not particularly. A standard 870 can run under 400 bucks. And shells around 25-30 for 25 or 50 for 10 special defense rounds. ARs can be afforded as well being there are models under 600. A spam can of 5.56 can net you 250 for 600 or so rounds.
Many of the additional cost end up being the fault of the federal and state governments you live under. Ammo for me out here is much cheaper than back east. Not to mention I’d be jailed for what I do have here because of state legislation. Hell, my 600 dollar suppressor gets turned into a 800 dollar item because of the NFA regulations which only exists to exclude lower income people from buying Automatics back in the 20s.

I've done joint videos with a lot of the popular gun YTers, but I gave up on that because I was afraid that being in the spotlight would bring the heat down on me. That may sound surprising, given my recent political postings, but I love guns just as much as any other American. Quantity is almost irrelevant if you can’t hit anything. I’ve got 5 arms in one room but only can use one or two at a time so 3 are useless without an extra person. 5 rounds is a lot for one that’s very experienced in shooting itself. People with limited resources shouldn’t fear or feel bad about having limited weapons in one household. I don’t always go to shot show and I haven’t been a member of the NRA for 10 years. I don’t like who and how they run the NRA anymore. I also have YT so that in itself saves me the waste going to the convention. If there’s anything i want that’s in the shot show I just do transfers or private sales from people I know who go every year

Not especially. A 6-shot Ruger Wrangler .22lr revolver can be had for as little as $200 brand spanking new. A box of 400 rounds of 38gr .22lr can be had for $40-$50 easily. While $250 can be a hefty amount for someone poor, if they want it badly enough they can generally save for it.

There's plenty of reasons people in America wouldn't want a gun for themselves. Maybe they're simply terrified of guns. I have to admit that I was a little nervous when I was first getting into shooting myself since I didn't really grow up with them. It's a tool that requires a LOT of respect after all. Perhaps someone doesn't want a gun because they're anti-gun and think nobody should have one. Perhaps someone doesn't want a gun because they have a history of mental health issues and are afraid of using it against themselves the next time they go into a deep negative thought spiral. That's only to name a few, there's likely many more reasons. Hell, I know people that, while not anti-gun ownership themselves, simply do not like guns. You can take them out on the range, they'll shoot them with ya, but still don't really have any desire to own one themselves.

I've been an adrenaline junkie all my life and have raced motorcycles forever and have crashed a lot, unfortunately. Several years ago now, I crashed my dirt bike so badly that I dislocated my dominant arm and broke about every rib on that side of my body. I have had two shoulder surgeries, and it's still pretty messed up, so I have had to learn to shoot with my other hand arm. At first, I had a hell of a time hitting anything...and then I realized I was also cross-dominant eye shooting. Talk about a learning curve! I still am not as good as I used to be, but at least I can hit something now! lol

I used to work for a company here in Ohio that is famous for selling "cheap" guns—Hi-Point firearms! That was my first gun, and I still recommend them when someone asks what a good first gun would be. Knowing how much money I have blown over the years makes me sad! It's probably one of those things I shouldn't have kept track of, like my personal body count! lol

That's actually very important stuff that people should learn anyway.

Learn to shoot and reload with your weak hand. Shoot without glasses/contacts. Have someone else load your mags and randomly put dud rounds in there to simulate failures.

I have previously been to a shooting range and enjoyed myself but I've never owned a gun. An old work friend of mine does, which is very in the UK, and they love it as a sport/hobby.

Have you seen and if so, what do you think of the keltec PR57? I Love unique firearms and shooting a lot. The ammo was not too pricey at 249 to 390 plus (depending on brand) for 500 rounds. A normal shooting day for me usually spends 500 rounds for an evening of fun.

Its a new 5.7 caliber pistol woth 21 round internal mag. Top load with 10 round clips. Extremely light and low profile due to non replaceable magazine, pretty damn inexpensive due to ease of manufacturing and low anount of parts. Excellent for daily carry. Interesting firearm to say the least.

Never had experience with one of those. But I do know the ruger 5.7 is pretty nice over its competitor FN makes. I’m not personally sold on the 5.7 but it does seem like a good small game round if you can get it in a small bolt gun.

I haven't looked at it, so I don't know much about it. The friend I was with at the SHOT show was looking at it, but I never asked him what he thought about it...lol. That friend has a PMR30 and loves it.

I have a Sub2000 that uses Glock mags since I have several Glocks. It's a Gen2, and it's a little flakey. I have a range on my farm and have probably put 5K rounds through it. It's fun. I heard they solved some of the problems with the Gen3 version. I have several pistol-caliber carbines. They are a lot of fun, and ammo is relatively cheap.

I haven't bought it yet, but its on my list. Right now im researching ballistics and other firearm availability for 5.7 i love having multiple firearms for each caliber or a firearm that can do multiple calibers like the SW governor.

That's the only way to do it. Don't have to bother with idiots at the range. Just walk to your spot and enjoy the day.

As I mentioned above i like having multiple firearms in the same caliber so I have options. Using the same mags is a huge plus.

Walked into a pawn shop, saw a Ruger super Blackhawk in .44 mag... mine now..

The 5.7 I already mentioned..

Saw a guy at another store looking at the same 5.7 later and told him the story about how I got it looking for the PMR30, clerk overhead and said, "Oh, you mean one of these?", so went home with a PMR30 when all I was there for was ammo..

Went looking for an AR15.. they didn't have one, bullshitting with the clerk I mentioned AR10... you know what happened next.. ended up with a Ruger SFAR .308..

And pretty much the same stories ending in a .44 mag lever action, .30 M1 carbine, Rossi .22 mag pump..

I should stay out of gun stores...

I never go to a gun store or anywhere that sells guns. I use the Internet. Too much of a temptation to simply window shop.

I have a Type 56 7.62, want to get a bolt action for it and would love to find a pistol that used the same round lol, even if I gota make one

I've been collecting my brass for nearly 25 years with plans to get a reloader.

I'm thinking that should be one of my next purchases since I'm swimming in brass at this point..

Not to mention that I've been steadily upgrading the SFAR..

Just put a new LaRue trigger in it (LOVE IT!!!), as well as changing the stock to one with an adjustable cheek rest, suppressor, Vortex Venom scope, and just bought a different adjustable gas block for it, but need a different gas tube to use it..

I'm also doing the deal where I'm getting rifles that use the same cartridge as my pistols..

Looking for a mares leg in .357 mag since I've got 2 .357 mag pistols (my go-to if I think there might be a problem).

It is very handy and economical.

I like the fact the mags are interchangeable

I de-prime, clean and case prep them all and store them like that, then put primers in them and store ready to accept powder and lead, then you can dial the load based on what the gun likes, the Pistol likes 3.8 grains of win 231 with a 124grain plated lead round nose in it.

Very easy on the wrist and good consistency, the PC9 likes a hotter round so more closer to factory at 4+ grains

I'm going to need to figure out what my .308 and .30-06 like.

Those are my long range guns for now.

I've taken the .308 out to 300 yards at the range, and 430 yards or so in the middle of nowhere, but was just shooting at a lighter colored rock face on a canyon wall, so hard to know what my grouping was, but pretty much everything seemed to hit that lighter colored area which looked maybe a foot or so wide..

The cheap as .30-06 has put 2 through the same hole with a cheap as Chinesium Center Point scope from Walmart, but damn that gun has some kick and jump to it..

Thinking on getting it threaded for the suppressor and maybe even casting some weights to put in the voids in the composite stock...

It's been awhile since I've looked but my friend decided to go in with me on it and go for the best they have.

I had an old 357 bolt gun myself for a bit before I sold it. Not a bad caliber for both hand guns or mid range rifles.

I'm a Glock fanboy. There, I admitted it. lol That being said, I like other weapons that use the Glock mags like the Keltec Sub2000. I have also been experimenting with Meta Tacticals PCC conversion kits. I just preordered the MX1 kit but already have the Apex kit. Those kits have gotten me thinking about 3D printing something similar that maybe I designed myself. Just something fun to do...lol
