Farm management software

I been trying to find a good software set that will work with RFID that is stand alone (No internet connections) and most critically no subscription bullshit

I loath the shit apple model! I don't need updates or the other garbage most cram in most stuff now days

I can make a dedicated computer if need be for it as seems some Linux distros for open source farm management.

Basically just want some thing to read a tag as they go through the scale and open the corresponding log where I add the weight and any other basic notes boot em out for the next

I have no worries about paying good money for some so long as there is no subscription shit.

Is this the full extent of what you need? How many "assets"/animals/lines do you have to track or do you forsee needing to track (range)? Weight and notes only things being tracked? Scheduling of any kind needed (For I dunno, care or whatever)?

Do you want anything else? Inventory management? Equipment management (Logs, schedules, associated parts in inventory etc etc)?

Budget (range)?

Would you pay more for something that did more or do you want bare bones (Relative to your needs I guess)?

Any desire/knowledge to do any level of building or scripting yourself?

I don't know anything purpose built off the top of my head, but some of this info may be relevant.

I found a couple, though not sure if one of them will do RFID.
https://farmos.org/
and Tania: https://usetania.org though not sure if this project is still maintained as the site is pretty bare bones.

FarmOS seems to have an option that you can host yourself. From my quick look it seems you get everything.

If there's text entry for asset lookup and no built in RFID support, use keyboard wedge software I would think. This is a janky but easy solution of you're trying to force compatibility and you don't want to do development.

I just started thinking, its possible for a scanner to be used in general. But just my guess. I think I tried it once in an IT management software as a test long ago. I'm guessing this is to scan a barcode of some sort? Could work out of the box.
Don't believe the software I tested before said it supports RFID, it just worked. AFAIK, Its just taking the data it sees and prints it where ever the courser is.

ya saw those, going to look into further.

No I just need some thing pretty basic, and no, I never got into coding.

Yeah, many barcode scanners show up as keyboards in device manager. Barcode scanners are actually insane in the amount of stuff you can make them do. They usually come with a big booklet of barcodes that you can use to set behavior of the unit. They can parse out chunks of codes based on delimiters, enter additional keystrokes, whatever. I fucking love barcode scanners I'm such a nerd.

that is the only thing that would beat paper is a means to scan id, then have it pull up a page of that ID then I can add as plain text any thing I needed.

Then if needed just print out a physical copy. so only thing is the data base and means to scan the id, register it to the page so future scans pull that page

This should be easy if the software is any good and you can get an RFID scanner to work either built in, or again, keyboard wedge. Shit, you could do this in Excel if you wanted to go real low tech, though you'd have to script or be a function wizard.

if I knew how, I can build and tune a computer, using them was some one ellses job!

Once full time farming I'll look into learning to make some thing.

Well, if you get stuck somewhere, don't have anyone local, and the internet still works, hit me up. I've done a bunch of very quick and dirty asset management stuff on literally zero budget so this is my jam.

I can program you your own custom system if you want to talk business
