When i was still a kid i had a black cat, she honestly ended up my best friend. We would often just spend hours where she wpuld lay next to me or on my chest while i read a book or rested. Often i would talk to her. We got to thr point where i could swear i immediatly knew when and what she wanted be it a nap, food a toy, alone time, even when she was sad. She would often be the first to notice when i wss down even if i hide it really well. Im pretty sure i fell in love with her (nothing happened) but i was wondering if somone could help me find out if she felt the same way, and yes i didnt say everything since thst would make this insanly long

I dunno. I think about this from time to time. There's no definitive way to KNOW what an animal is thinking/feeling. People may get woo woo and disagree with me here, but I mean, to an absolute certainty KNOW it? There's a lot of things we don't KNOW though, and a lot of things that are UNKNOWABLE. I mean, you don't KNOW what anyone else is thinking, even if they tell you explicitly in your language. You don't KNOW that existence is real and that the entire world isn't jus your brain in a dish with wires hooked up to it pulsing signals into it.

That kind of stuff will drive you mad though, so what do we do? Accept the evidence we have as an educated guess and move on. I know how you feel my guy. Every cat I've had as always had a "thing" that we do and they only do with me and it's always felt special and like it was genuine affection or preference for ME.

One cat that would run up to me, ask to be picked up, and then rub his face upwards into the brim of my hat until it fell off. Every time I came home.

Another RUNS into my bedroom every day when she hears me wake up and jumps up to a specific spot on the bed. I pat her bum, rub her back and it makes her go MENTAL. Then I do this claw thing with my hand where I lower it into her grasp and she grabs at my arm and kicks and "bites" me but she's so gentle and doesn't use claws. She looks very savage but she's playing and she knows she's playing with something that doesn't have fur so she's so very, very tender.

Another cat wants to be picked up and I rub her neck and look into her eyes and she PURRRRRRRRRRRS and melts into my arms. She doesn't generally like to lay on her back and she doesn't let other folks handle her like this but she "asks" me for it.

I dunno. Those are things that are really special to me and those cats only do/did those things with me. I definitely feel love. Do they? They wouldn't recognize it as that sans language, but the feeling might be something akin to it for them. I'll let myself believe it because A) I think I earnestly do and B) it doesn't hurt anything and increases our bond/my devotion to them. It's a win all around.

I think your cat loved you and that's beautiful my dude.
