What is your favorite movie

Just rewatched the extended cuts of the three. The first is my favorite of the bunch.
yuss! i want to sit down n watch them all again, do a marathon but theres so many to go through lol, including the hobbits and the others. best get the popcorn ready heh
Except for saw 3D that was pretty trash. Although that one does have one of the most painful traps of the series hands down.
yeah saw 3d wasnt great but the others made up for it in my mind, it does have some brutal traps tho

The fishhook in the throat and trying not to scream makes me wince every time I watch it XD it's not even excessive in the gore but conceptually my god that is just painful.

I only did the Peter Jackson trilogy for the extendeds. Not a big fan of the hobbit "trilogy"

Yeah fishhook are not pleasant to get stuck with and in the throat.. God no, just no lol I couldn't

And honestly I've never read the books, I prefer movies but I'm told the books are better

I'm the same; I think some books are better I think some movies are better; however I always gravitate towards the movie over the book. I just don't think the hobbit is well paced or even memorable. Aside from the misty mountains song and the look/voice of the dragon there isn't a single memorable thing about them.

That's understandable, I don't find the hobbit as good as the rest but I still like the hobbitses :3 samwise will forever be the goat

Reading about Sam above made me think of another Sci-Fi movie I liked, Moon, from 2009. I love Sci-Fi movies that make you think about the future.

Necromancing this thread because why not.

Heat.

I came for the action, I stayed for the exploration of loneliness, obsession, and how connection can sometimes transcend what seem to be very rigid roles.

Honorable mention to Dead Poets Society. I watch it almost entirely for the emotional crescendo at the very end, though to be fair you really have to watch the whole thing for it to actually hit. I bawl openly every single time, it's so fucking cathartic.

Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror. The only movie that's ever truly creeped me out. Something about the music being the only audio gives me crazy anxiety. And no one will ever play Count Orlok better than Max Shreck.

Also Pans Labrynth. The characters are visually amazing and its the only foreign language movie that I dont have to read the subtitles to completely understand what's happening.

I watch both at least once a year.

I have to rewatch this. I sat and watched it but I think I was not mentally prepared for a "headier" movie at the time so I couldn't give it a fair enough shake.

Stalker / Andrei Tarkovsky (1979)

i know this post was forever ago, but if you're still around, what do you like about this movie?

I feel like there are certain movies I'm almost too intimidated to sit down and watch because I sense they have a lot of meat to them. Stalker and Come And See are on that list.

The original Robocop, something about it draws me back to it no matter what and I always have a fun time watching.

Oh god, the squibs. Man, if you don't have a fun time watching Robocop, I think it's time to pack it in.

Holy shit drop whatever you're doing and watch that shit.

If you do watch them and like them, Starship Troopers is good too. Another Paul Verhoeven joint.
Oh god, I've got a whole itinerary now; that's at least 4 movies now. Any more movies I should watch? I've never seen any of the Star Wars or Star Treks.

I mean, there's some level of I suppose cultural obligation to watch the original Star Wars trilogy. I can take them out leave them myself.

Oh geez, I dunno, have you seen The Shawshank Redemption? That's a pretty universally acclaimed movie that is, in fact, good. The score is fucking amazing and the movie's earnestness and tenderness are a salve to the indifference of the modern world. It makes me want to be a good person and be kind.
