Wine usually doesn't bother me all too much, although some of the cheaper stuff will give me a serious case of heart burn. With wine I typically go with Red/White Moscato, Fruity red, Delicious red, Grape, and another kind that I'm forgetting the name of right now.

Since that is what wine does to me, i know very little about wine lol. If i have a say in the matter i'll ask for white wine, otherwise i usually stick to whatever else is being offered on the side.

Never really liked beer either but after a few years, i think i figured out IPA was my pick of poison

Not everyone's a wine drinker, for sure. My mom is fine with wine, but my father is definitely not. Pretty much all wine, no matter what kind gives him heart burn. I think I might also remembering him mentioning something about red wine giving him a pretty bad hangover as well. But I'm not positive on that.

Beer is... eh... it's alright. I'll drink it if other people are drinking it. But the main reason I buy beer is to cook with it. There's nothing like a nice beef and veggie beer stew to really hit the spot. Not a big fan of IPAs though. I've tried a few and so far I haven't liked any of them. Some national brands, some local brands. They've all tasted worse than beer in my opinion.

There definitely doesn't seem to be any beverages or liquor that everyone can agree on, so i always did like the phrasing "pick your poison" haha. To be fair the only thing i don't get hungover from drinking in excess would be beer, which is primarily why i've stuck with that. Gin and tonic sometimes, although too much of that would almost certainly make me sick.

The thing with IPAs is that there are so many different tastes to it. There are a whole lot i don't drink and others that are amazing.
Have you tried Apocolyptic Thunderjuice? That's one of my favorites, but idk if you have it in the US

@Equitatus6 Haven't gone that far myself, i'll just call myself viking instead!
Nothing wrong with belonging to every nationality though! That's a lot of potential citizenships ?

I can't say I've heard of Apocalyptic Thunder Juice. I tried to see if it was sold in the U.S. but can't get a clear answer, other that it being a New England inspired IPA brewed in Norway. I've tried 3 IPAs so far, so my experience with them are quite limited. But the one I had from a local brewery was one of the worst ones for sure. I could just... barely... get it down my throat. It was simply awful. But when it comes to alcohol in general I'm more of a fan of fruity/sweet drinks. Stuff like rum and coke, gin and juice, vodka and soda, margaritas, and sweet wines, stuff like that. Whiskey and coke isn't bad at all, but it's something I have to drink lightly.

Aye i realize most of what i drink might be limited within scandinavia unfortunately... I don't mean to sound like a negative nancy here but, everything alcohol i've tried coming from the US i don't like. For the longest time i wanted to know what bourbon tasted like and imported two bottles. How can you drink that? Lol

I don't drink much anymore, sweet drinks are better for sure since i rarely go in with the intention of actually getting drunk nowadays.

I'll see if i can find some IPAs for you to try tho hehe

Ya know? I don't think I've ever tried bourbon before, or if I have it was quite a forgettable experience. One thing I did surprisingly like was Brandy, which I thought was a type of whiskey, but is actually made from fermented fruits. It's the type of liquor that "rich snobs" drink, and I guess I can see why. Bourbon is just whiskey made with corn and grain mash, often in a charred barrel. That alone sounds... well, not very good. But I can't knock it until I try it.

I might try a few more IPAs, but damn are they expensive around here. For 6 bottles worth of IPA (cost wise) I could get 8-10 bottles worth of hard cider, which in my opinion is quite tasty.

The american alcohol industry might have tempted me by always talking about bourbon in TV shows and movies like it's the bomb lol, and if that is how it is actually made then yeah it's no wonder i didn't like it. Two different brands, same asscrack taste.

IPAs tend to be pricey here as well, but i always went along with the idea that i'd rather get 6 beers i like, than 24 beers because they're cheaper. To each their own i suppose but that's my five cents lol

Am gonna have to try brandy though!

I went into Brandy thinking it was just going to be a different form of whiskey, but one thing I did notice was that it was pretty smooth and had a very unique yet, fairly decent taste. I don't recall it giving me a horrible hangover the next day either, but since it's made differently than Whiskey, that could be the reason. I'd probably get it again if it wasn't so friggin' expensive.

The reason I went with cost comparison with IPAs and hard cider is due to the fact that 3 out of 3 IPAs I've tried have been kind of bad to downright terrible. While even the worst cider I've had was still not too bad, just not as good as Y brand or X flavor. Why pay more for something that I may not even like, when I can pay less for something I actually do like. Lol

Makes sense, i won't hold that against you lol.

I would drink a lot more whiskey if it didn't cost so much. There are of course cheaper brands that i'll consider but there is usually an aftertaste that i can't seem to get rid of, under a certain price range.

I'll get myself a bottle of Lagavulin every now and then, and it usually lasts for a long time so technically i guess it's not super expensive?

One thing we do luckily have here in the United States is a lot of variety. And I mean so much variety that it can easily overload the senses. Lol. But when it comes to cheap brands they can be a hit or a miss. For me, X brand makes really damn good Rum and Gin. But their Tequila is meh, and their vodka is meh. While brand Y makes really good Brandy but their Rum is meh, and their Whiskey is meh. While brand Z makes really good Vodka, and pretty much that's the only thing they make that's good. But that's the kind of thing you have to expect when you're buying bottom of the shelve, cheap alcohol. For Tequila I've found that Chi-chis makes pretty good Tequila for a reasonable price. But, other than food, that's pretty much the only alcohol they make.

And yes, I'm quite the penny pitcher. If I can get something for cheaper and not completely suffer, why not? Lol
